Once again, Hannah Waddingham has taken her bob to the next level. While her champagne-blonde locks always have us swooning, her latest look has us truly captivated. Her freshly-flipped bob has been styled to windswept perfection. A boost of volume combines with soft flicks, creating effortless movement that's incredibly flattering.

Hannah looks breathtaking

The 51-year-old actress debuted the swooping style as she stepped out for the Ride Or Die premiere in New York last night. To no surprise, she looked phenomenal. Hannah went full glam with her extra bouncy bob paired with an incredible smokey eye.

‘Her bob is a masterclass in effortless glamour,’ says Jason Collier, celebrity hairstylist, founder of Studio23 and Key Opinion Leader at Jerome Russell Bblonde. ‘It has all the hallmarks of a classic bob, but with softer movement and volume that gives it a fresh, modern feel.’

The swooping style is so flattering

He adds, ‘The side-swept styling looks luxurious, but I love that it doesn’t feel overstyled. The airy texture keeps it from feeling too polished or structured.’

It’s that beautiful texture and movement that Jason says is particularly flattering for mature hair. ‘The windswept finish creates lift through the roots and around the crown, preventing the hair from sitting flat against the head. That movement instantly gives you the impression of thicker, more youthful-looking hair,’ he explains. Consider us sold.

Good styling is nothing without a good cut, Jason reminds us. ‘A soft layered bob, like Hannah’s, adds body without sacrificing density,’ he says. ‘The length is also ideal. Sitting around the jawline helps create definition while still maintaining softness, making it an incredibly flattering choice for women over 50.’

Hannah’s team undoubtedly did a fantastic job. While the rest of us might not have a glam squad on speed dial (we can dream), Jason assures us that the look is surprisingly achievable at home.

‘To create this look, I’d start with a volumising mousse on damp hair before blow-drying with a medium round brush to build lift through the crown. The key here is to create height at the roots while keeping the ends soft and bouncy,’ he explains.

Once dry, he recommends going in with a medium-barrel curling tong to add loose bends, styling the hair away from the face. ‘Once the hair has cooled, brushing through is essential. This will transform those curls into the soft, signature windswept waves,’ he says.

Creating lift at the roots is key

He adds, ‘finish by sweeping the front section across the forehead and setting everything with a flexible-hold hairspray so the hair keeps its movement.’

Of course, when it comes to Hannah’s locks, Jason says never to underestimate the importance of colour. ‘Hannah’s creamy champagne blonde reflects the light beautifully, which makes the hair look even fuller and glossier.’ For a similar finish, he recommends a weekly gloss treatment to keep your blonde looking salon-fresh, plus a misting of shine spray after styling.
