Kate Moss and daughter Lila made a glamorous return to the Met Gala this year, and both looked incredible as they walked the carpet at the hottest event of the year. And while they skipped their signature ‘matchy’ fashion moment, Lila looked more like her mum’s mini-me than ever.
Stepping out solo, Kate gave her grunge roots a more polished update. Her blonde locks were swept upwards and cascaded into curls, styled in a deep side part to place her makeup centre stage.
Kate’s skin leaned into a matte, airbrushed finish. Blush was kept to a minimum; instead, bronzer was swept strategically across her cheekbones for a touch of warmth and a subtle contouring effect. Her eyes were smoked out with deep, ashy hues, complete with a softly smudged liner and a subtle coating of mascara. Her makeup was completed with an imperfectly smudged red lip. Her final look was one that wouldn’t feel out of place in the 90s.
Her 23-year-old daughter, Lila, also opted for a softly matte base, with makeup artist, Yasmin Istanbouli, playing up her eyes with the signature Moss feline flick. Her cheekbones, too, were given Kate-worthy shading. While it was a lighter version than her mother’s glam, there’s no mistaking those genetics.
Her skin was softly bronzed to bring warmth, and a light dusting of blush added a delicate flush. In contrast to her mum’s smokey eye, Lila chose a barely-there wash of peachy eyeshadow across the lids. Fluttering lashes stole the show, paired with a soft highlight of shimmer in the inner corners of her eyes. For a pop of colour, a matte pink shade was swept across her lips.
In previous years, the pair have walked the Met Gala carpet together in coordinating fashion looks. Their last appearance, in 2023, saw them in matching peach-pink gowns, with their blonde lengths worn down and skin kept fresh. Kate went all in with a smoky eye, while Lila embraced a softer version — still complete with a Kate-inspired feline flick.
