Scroll through Instagram right now and you’ll likely be bombarded with Alia Bhatt’s stunning Cannes look. The Bollywood actress made her Cannes debut last night, and beauty fanatics are obsessing over her incredible soft-glam makeup. Even better news for beauty watchers? The entire routine was created using high-street beauty products.
When we see celebrities stepping on to the red carpet looking impossibly glamorous, it’s easy to assume the beauty products behind the look come with an eye-watering price tag. But not for Alia. As revealed by her makeup artist Harold James, her entire look was created using L’Oréal Paris.
To start, her base had a softly diffused finish that looked incredibly natural, allowing her freckles to shine through. Harold revealed he used L'Oréal Paris’ latest foundation launch, Infallible Cushion Foundation, before locking it in place with the Infallible 3-Second Setting Mist – which, currently on sale for £7.99, is an impressive budget buy for a Cannes-worthy makeup look.
Arguably the star of the show, however, was the blush. Harold seems to have picked the pink shade with ultimate precision, matching it perfectly to her baby pink couture gown, using the L’Oréal Paris Lumi Blush. The rosy hue was swept across the apples of her cheeks for a soft, sun-kissed finish. To match, Harold also chose a nude pink lip, opting for the Infallible Matte Resistance in the shade Worth It.
With lashes like Alia’s, it’s easy to assume she was wearing falsies. But once again, the secret came courtesy of another L'Oréal Paris favourite. Harold revealed he used the cult-loved Panorama Mascara to create her fluttery, perfectly defined lashes – a product that’s also rated by Gillian Anderson, so it clearly has the A-list seal of approval. Better yet, it’ll only set you back £13 and rival your luxe counterparts.
Her hair looked equally sensational, styled into soft Hollywood waves with a gently tousled, lived-in finish. Of course, a Cannes red carpet look needs serious staying power. The iconic Elnett Strong Hold Hairspray was used to keep every wave in place — it has a legendary beauty status for a reason, and costs less than a tenner. For that glossy finish, Alia turned to the Elvive Extraordinary Oil as the final touch.
Proof that a red carpet-worthy beauty routine doesn’t have to come with an A-list price tag.
