She may be a beauty mogul who travels the world for inspiration, but Victoria Beckham has discovered that the best inspiration can be found at home. Posh has revealed that her latest product was inspired by her 14-year-old daughter, Harper, and it’s totally changed how she does her makeup.
Unveiling her new Blush Stylus, Victoria says, ‘Now, I'd love to take all of the credit for this product, but I can’t. It was actually my daughter.’
‘When we were sitting around the development table and she was playing with the Contour Stylus, she said to me, “Mummy, wouldn’t it be cool to create a cream blush in the same stylus as Contour?” And I actually thought that’s a really, really good idea, because I do love to draw on my face. I love how I can really get a precise application.’
Harper’s youthful touch can also be seen in the scribble technique Victoria has adopted with the blusher, which she describes as ‘so cool’. She adds, ‘This has completely changed my opinion on blush. Thanks, Harper!’
Rather than using traditional dots or a swipe of colour, Victoria now uses what looks like a sweet doodle in a teenage diary. ‘I like to draw two hearts on either side of my face, three lines on my nose and then a little dot on my chin,’ she shares, using the Fresco shade.
The heart doodles aren’t just there for the cutesy factor, adds Victoria. ‘That heart shape – it’s really giving me that feeling of lift. I’m going to take my brush and I’m going to lightly blend in the heart.’
Gen Alpha girls are huge fans of taking blusher higher up the face and Victoria agrees that Harper’s generation is really on to something here.
‘I am literally taking this blush right up to underneath my eye here, which really is something quite new for me,’ she says, enthusing how this new method replicates her beloved holiday flush.
‘I love how you naturally get [sun] on this part of the face,’ she says, dabbing along her orbital bone. ‘I just find that the heart is the perfect shape because then, when I blend it, it's exactly where I want it to be.’
This new blusher method has even encouraged Victoria to do the one thing she famously spent her younger years trying to avoid. ‘Sometimes, I also do an almost little smile – don’t tell anyone,’ she jokes.
‘Because what that does is it also lifts up my face when I’m drawing the heart. And I love it. It just feels super, super fresh.’
Crediting the product (and Harper) for getting her out of a ‘blush rut’, she concludes: ‘This really has changed up my blush game, for sure.’ It just shows that mums can learn from their daughters, too.
