After five decades as a supermodel, Jerry Hall has a pretty good idea of what actually works on her skin. So when she shows up looking impossibly youthful at 70 and raving about her ‘favourite new beauty secret’, we’re ready to listen.

Jerry has just been unveiled as the latest face of Charlotte Tilbury, in a glamorous campaign for the makeup artist’s new 'photoshop finish' makeup. The model shows off Charlotte’s new blurring powder and blusher in two gorgeous photos where her skin really does live up to the ‘airbrush’ name.

‘Love Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Loose Powder and Blush!’ says Jerry, who we’ll be seeing a lot more of soon in the upcoming series of Celebrity Traitors.

‘It's been fabulous working with Charlotte, I had so much fun on set,’ she says. ‘It's a celebration of feeling your very best at every stage of life. Having spent much of my life in front of the camera, it’s taught me that beauty is deeply personal. It’s about expressing who you are and feeling like the best version of yourself.'

'When you feel confident, comfortable and happy in your own skin, it shines through, and that's something worth celebrating.’

So what are the latest Charlotte Tilbury launches, and are they worth trying? I’ve been testing them out already, so I can give my verdict on dry-ish, 50-plus skin.

Firstly, I should say I really don’t like loose powder – too messy, too bulky, often drying – so I wasn’t really expecting to like this. However, I have to say, the Tilbury version is one I can get behind. The powder is contained behind a fine mesh, which minimises the problem of powder flying everywhere, and the pot includes a cute, heart-shaped cushion that lets you pat on minimal amounts.

I didn’t feel the usual sensation of skin being sucked dry – in fact, I couldn’t really feel it on my skin, even when it had been on a few hours. But I could definitely see the result. The powder itself is virtually invisible (and comes in 7 shades to suit various skin tones) but the soft, filter-like finish adds a more polished touch to dewy foundations which read as ‘shiny’ on the T-zone and nose. I will happily switch between this and the original Airbrush pressed powder, which I love (almost as much as the Airbrush Blur Concealer).

The blusher, meanwhile, is excellent. It softens the look of enlarged pores (thanks for that one, Old Mother Time), and gives a delicate yet buildable flush to skin. I can’t fault the staying power or the flattering finish, which is subtly luminous but not shimmery.

With autumn upon us, I’m definitely feeling the urge for a slightly more refined makeup look, and these two products really do the job. Jerry, you’re spot on.
