The BAFTAs weren’t giving out an award for the best skin glow-up, but if they were, Lucy Punch would be clutching a second statuette to go with her Amandaland Best Scripted Comedy accolade. The actress arrived on the red carpet looking absolutely sensational, with all eyes on her astonishingly radiant complexion.

Her skin looked a good decade younger than her 48 years, and her BAFTA makeup artist Buster Knight has given us the full lowdown on Lucy’s lustre. He reveals that Lucy, as well as being blessed with great genetics, was treated to this year’s most-wanted home skin treatment, Cosmetic Consult Miracle Cryo Eye Masks, to ensure her makeup looked flawless.

These anti-ageing eye patches immediately went viral and sold out within days of launching, not least because they already count Coleen Rooney and Katherine Ryan among their fans. ‘I genuinely can’t be without them,’ Buster tells us. ‘I’m flying to New York this week and I’ve already secured a stash from founder Ashley Stobart herself. Thankfully, they’re restocking soon.’

Talking exclusively to GH, Buster tells us Lucy’s BAFTA skin transformation began not in a makeup chair, but by chance, in a starkly-lit elevator!

‘I actually met Lucy recently in a lift in America and we instantly hit it off, so the BAFTAs was our first time working together,’ Buster explains. ‘Lift lighting is always very telling, and I could see she had good skin before the big day even arrived.’

‘For a woman in her 40s to have skin like that takes consistency, maintenance and the right products,’ says Buster. ‘Her skin was actually one of the very first things I noticed about her when we first met, so I knew from the start that glowing, healthy skin had to be the focus of the overall look.’

Ahead of Lucy’s big BAFTA moment, Buster advised the actress to use another of his favourite DIY treatments to maximise her beauty sleep the night before, and ensure she arrived in his makeup chair good to glow.

‘Red carpet prep can be tricky because a lot of treatments require downtime, which is why I love Cosmetic Consult Miracle Skin Transformation so much – it gives skin that fresh-from-a-facial look overnight,’ he says. ‘I gave Lucy a treatment to use the evening before because I knew it would really boost luminosity, even out the skin tone and deeply hydrate the skin. And it absolutely delivered.’

On BAFTA day itself, Buster applied the Miracle Cryo Eye Masks under Lucy’s eyes while doing her eye makeup.

‘I always use eye masks during makeup prep because they’re incredibly practical – they catch any loose powder or fallout while also treating the skin at the same time,’ he says. ‘Sometimes eye creams can feel too heavy under makeup, but hydrogel masks like these work perfectly because they hydrate without overloading the skin.’

‘What makes these different is that they cover the entire eye area rather than just underneath the eye,’ he says. ‘The formula absorbs beautifully without leaving residue, meaning the under-eye area is prepped and ready for concealer almost immediately. They also contain caffeine, which really helps brighten dark circles and reduce puffiness.’

The benefits for Lucy were instant, he tells us. ‘The skin instantly looked plumper, smoother and more refreshed, which makes such a difference for makeup application.’

Once Lucy’s skin was prepped, Buster used Hourglass Illusion Luminous Glow Foundation. ‘The skincare and base worked perfectly together to create Lucy’s radiant, dewy finish,’ he tells us. ‘When the skin is properly hydrated and balanced beforehand, makeup just comes alive in the most beautiful way.’

Buster’s makeup was complemented by Lucy’s buttery-blonde hair and shiny blow-dry, created by celebrity hairdresser Philip Haug. ‘We wanted the look to feel glamorous but still very natural and modern,’ explains Buster. ‘It was all about the skin. Her hair was styled into this gorgeous soft, bouncy blow-dry and the dress was such a striking orange, so we wanted the makeup to complement everything rather than overpower it.’

Lucy also opted for a big, bouncy blowdry

‘Honestly, Lucy looked incredible. Not only was she naturally beaming after winning a BAFTA, she also has genuinely beautiful skin. We really wanted to showcase that.’

Job done, we’d say.
