Behold, the Easter Battenbun.

The Battenbun is the love child of the hot cross bun (which some would say is already perfect as it is) and the more challenging sweet treat... the Battenburg cake.

Definietly not one for the marzipan haters out there.

The bun is two-tone in the Battenberg’s traditional lurid yellow and pink and it’s topped with a bow.

The creation comes courtesy of chef Anna Olson and is filled with almonds, cinnamon, apricots and of course the signature marzipan.

Anna created the treat (depending on your love of Battenberg) to celebrate her new TV show Bake With Anna Olson on Food Network.

The cake will be given away, on a first come first served basis, at east London bakery Lili Vanilli on Easter Sunday.

You might not have a super-strength sweet tooth to manage a whole one, but 10 out of 10 to Anna Olson for ingenuity.
