best travel jewellery cases

For most of my travels, I have *gently* placed my earrings, necklaces, rings and watch in a singular, random pouch. Unless I only packed a single pair of hoops and maybe a ring, this packing style inevitably ends up in a tangled mess that requires clothes pins to work out the knots and a FaceTime with my mum for support when you get to your destination.

Buying the best jewellery case will help you avoid this problem, providing dedicated compartments and zippered pockets to keep your accessories separate and knot-free.

We made sure to include travel jewellery cases for every budget in our list below, because we know you probably want to save your money for your trip (or, maybe a new pair of earrings while you're there).

Daisy Estée Lalonde Jewellery Case

For those who like to travel with a jewellery wardrobe almost as extensive as their clothes, this is the case for you. The funky diamond design is great for jazzing up any bedside table, and you can't help but feel glamorous as you take your silver and gold from the plush burgundy velvet interior.

Better still, you can get the gold-plated plaque on the front engraved with your name or a special message – like 'remembered your passport?'.

This relatively affordable option also happens to be a top-seller, with over 1,000 positive shopper reviews. It's designed to fit in your handbag – so just imagine this space-saver in your carry-on or checked bag.

The case also has a small mirror and two removable dividers to keep your jewellery separate. We appreciate the grooves for rings or a pair of earrings and the exterior is designed to be water-resistant, too. Don't underestimate this case's size either: One satisfied shopper wrote, "This little box let me take a whole ring collection with me, plus two necklaces, on our two-week trip."

Here at Good Housekeeping, we think leopard print is a neutral, so it's no wonder our team was drawn to this lovely bold case (complete with playful red accents).

It's got plenty of room for your gems – with a capacious compartment for bigger jewellery, a ring shelf and a pocket in the lid – but it's not too bulky to travel with.

Aspinal of London Travel Jewellery Roll Deep Shine Cherry Red Small Croc

Does it get more fancy than an Aspinal jewellery carrier? We think not. This nifty roll case will make you feel like you're a queen stashing away her jewels as she travels, but be prepared for the lack of leg room and cramped conditions in economy to bring you back down to earth.

It folds up to resemble a purse so isn't too bulky or structured, and – as is the Aspinal way – you can get this one monogrammed, too.

Pandora isn't just about charm bracelets. With brand ambassadors like Pamela Anderson now on the books, it's had a bit of a glow-up.

And this electric red, velvet box packs a real punch, with removable compartments and a generous-sized mirror that means you don't have to squint into a pocket mirror to check your earrings are in properly.

Who doesn't love a personalised accessory? Rather than traditional monogramming, we love these initial letter boxes and think they're perfectly gift-able, too. The orange and blue colour combo is eye-catching enough that you won't go accidentally leaving it behind in your hotel room, and despite its compact size this one fits plenty in its two small compartments.

Buy the matching wash bag for ultimate accessory envy from any fellow travellers.

There's an elastic pocket, five necklace hooks, a ring cushion with seven grooves, a stud pegboard with room for 20 pairs and customisable compartments that can fit more earrings (or even lipstick).

Secondly, this super cute sage green Stackers case will house your various watches (including fitness watches, should that be your vibe), plus you can put a spare pair of sunnies in there to keep them safe from getting scratched by any loose local currency in your bag.

Mejuri is a beloved jewellery brand among our editors and its travel case ensures your higher-end bling remains protected during road trips or flights due to an anti-tarnish microsuede inside lining.

It also has four hooks for necklaces, six holes for earrings and ring holder. You can also opt to monogram the case free of charge (but note it wouldn't be returnable).

One satisfied shopper online loved the case so much that they bought it for three of their friends. "I use it for travel as well as for the office. I throw it in my gym bag so I can store my jewellery while I work out," they wrote.

Dagne Dover Frankie Jewellery Case

One of our frequent travellers prefers using her Frankie Jewellery Case for longer excursions of 10 days or more: "I find that this case holds more than others – more than you would expect," she said. It has dedicated spots for every piece of jewellery including rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets.

We also like the lightly padded exterior to help ensure your favourite pieces stay safe in transit. Given the larger capacity of this case, it also makes a good gift for anyone off to university this year.

How we chose the best travel jewellery cases

best cheap vacuums

At the Good Housekeeping Institute, our experts test every kind of travel gear and accessory, from the best toiletry bags to the best garment bags, so you can have a smoother (and more organised) trip. So, we know what we're looking for and we know which brands stack up against their claims.

In our hunt for the best travel jewellery cases, we asked for recommendations from the frequent flyers in our team, as well as doing extensive research on the market and taking insights from our US GHI team, to collate our list.

How to choose the best travel jewellery box

best cheap vacuums

✔️ Size: The majority of our top-rated picks have a square or rectangular shape, with some that are longer or oval-shaped. We prioritised compact cases that will fit in any kind of bag, including options that have hidden compartments or can even unfold for maximum space. The right capacity for you depends on how large your jewellery collection is, and how much of it you tend to travel with.

✔️ Material: Typically, more affordable jewellery cases are made of cotton, polyester and faux leather or the synthetic polyurethane. More expensive cases are made from full-grain or Italian pebbled leather. They are typically lined with a real or faux suede (e.g. microsuede) interior and have silver- or gold-toned hardware.

✔️ Organisation: The whole purpose of a travel jewellery case is organisation, so we made sure to include cases that feature compartments designed to hold different pieces of jewellery. The best travel cases have holes for earrings, a ring roll, snaps for necklaces and bracelets and pockets with or without zips. We also appreciate a spacious main compartment. You may not need all of these features if you, say, don't have your ears pierced or hardly ever wear rings, but most cases will have all of the above to some degree or another.

✔️ Price: Travel jewellery cases, especially ones made from premium leather, can be upwards of £100. While a higher quality material may last longer than cases under £20, the goal is to not spend more money on a jewellery case than on the jewellery itself. Our research suggests that a well-designed case that features helpful compartments and is made from substantial materials falls between around £30 and £70. But that isn't to say some of our favourite cases aren't even more affordable at under £20.
