With the 90s very much back in fashion, dungarees are also making a comeback (yes, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy was a fan). And I’ve found the best denim dungarees that cater to every leg length and style.
Because, as someone who’s 5ft 10in, I know the struggle of finding a one-piece that fits. I’ve had a lot of front wedgies and ankle grazing lengths in my time. Not good.
But I’m pleased to say I’ve FINALLY found a pair that fits my long limbs and torso. And, impressively, it’s the same Free People pair also owned by our fashion writer, Zara, who’s 5ft 3in, as they’re available in long, short and regular leg lengths to suit a range of heights. If all brands could follow suit (in jeans, too) that would be excellent.

Free People Good Luck Barrel Overalls
Free People has taken its bestselling barrel-leg jean and turned it into a pair of overalls, giving this 90s classic a 2026 upgrade. As well as a classic blue denim, these crowd-pleasing dungarees are available in a range of colours, including Chocolate Mousse and Honey.
As we may have mentioned, they’re a favourite with multiple members of the GH team and are great for both petites and those blessed with long legs who usually struggle with an all-in-one fit. They feel soft and good quality, so they should be a fixture in your wardrobe for years to come.
Nobody’s Child Jesse Dungaree
While perhaps best known for its floaty floral dresses, Nobody’s Child impressed us with this pair of lightweight dungarees.
Designed as part of the Louise Thompson range (Louise is 5ft), they’re ‘perfect for petites’, although you can also purchase them in a regular length. We like the silver side button detail and the pop of red embroidery on the chest adds a classic 90s touch.

The soft, stretchy denim makes them extremely comfortable and is the reason why they were a favourite with our editor, Stacey, during pregnancy – the straps are designed to make breastfeeding quick and accessible – and beyond.
The comfort and convenience of an all-in-one outfit sometimes means sacrificing a cinched, tailored fit. But this isn’t the case with this pair from Boden, as the belt cinches you in at the waist and the trousers have a flattering flare.
The gold buttons and stitching elevate this jumpsuit even further. A great one-and-done outfit for those ‘I have nothing to wear’ days.

Fashion’s obsession with chocolate brown shows no sign of slowing down, and we’re not complaining. This pair of classic dungarees from Next will look fabulous with a summer tan, paired with a crisp white tee or light blue shirt underneath.
They’re made from 100% cotton denim, making them extra durable, too. And like a good pair of shoes, they mould to your body with wear.
These cotton dungarees captured our hearts with their ultra deep pockets (have we mentioned we love a pocket?). They’re as stylish as they are functional too, with a dark indigo wash.
And they’re available in short, regular or longlengths, catering to both petite and tall denim fans. There’s even a cropped shorts version, perfect for a pair and a spare during the winter and summer.

Though we are partial to a sleeve, we’re also big fans of this sleeveless denim number from Boden. It’s an effortless one-piece for sunny days – simply step into it, zip up, and go.
Sadly, the longer length is sold out, but it also comes in petite and regular sizes. Just add sandals and sunnies.
How to style dungarees
The great thing about dungarees is that they’re perfect for throwing on for a casual everyday look, worn with a tee and sandals, but can also be dressed up with a heel and accessories for a bit of extra zhuzh.
Alexa Chung likes to wear hers with a heel and nothing underneath, but if you’re not feeling quite that brave, they can also be layered with cosy knits (a knitted vest also looks great in summer) and vests.
How do I choose the right size overalls?
With an all-in-one, you have to get the sizing right, so they don’t end up being too short on the leg or tight/baggy on the crotch. Always check the brand’s size guides and measurements on the site, as we know all too well the pain of one brand’s size 12 being another's’ size 8. And look for brands that offer petite and longer lengths, as well as regular.
