While American Girl fans learned Daisy Davenport’s name over the summer, she just arrived on the brand’s shelves today, in time for the lead-up to the holidays. This 2027 Girl of the Year is both timely and timeless: She's navigating mental and emotional challenges, while her struggle with confidence is relatable across generations.
And she ties into the American Girl canon: Camp Gowonagin, where she is attending, is the same summer camp that the beloved historical character Molly McIntire went to in the book Molly Saves the Day.
There's another thoughtful detail, too: Daisy shares her name with Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts of the USA, who went by the nickname "Daisy."
The American Girl of the Year 2027, revealed
American Girl’s 2027 Girl of the Year is the traditional 18-inch doll, sporting auburn hair with bangs and green eyes. Daisy Davenport is dressed in a purple T-shirt and a denim skort, with purple tennis shoes and striped socks. She’s sold with her Meet Daisy Davenport book and is for ages 6+.
Her accessories deserve their own spotlight
You can bring Daisy's world home, From the Badger Cabin she sleeps in at summer camp, to the acoustic guitar she plays to relax, to the soccer gear she uses when she competes. Better yet, all of the accessories are compatible with other American Girl dolls, too.
If I had to pick a standout, it’d probably be the camp cabin. It sleeps two dolls in the bunk bed with bedding, and on the other side, there’s an outdoor sink and vanity, a camp flag, and more.
