Between my lifelong love of Pokémon and years of family puzzle nights, this new Ravensburger release felt like it was made for me. Ravensburger is already known for making some of the best puzzles in the world (it's even the brand of choice at many speed-puzzling competitions), but this might be its boldest release yet. It contains 40,320 pieces. That's not a typo—not 4,000, but over 40,000.

Chances are that the biggest puzzles you’ve done were around 1,000 to 2,000 pieces, but this is a next-level challenge. The company released a Disney version a few years back, and now, in honor of the 30th anniversary of Pokémon, they created the largest Pokémon puzzle ever: it measures more than 22 feet long when completed.
It’s an investment at $730, but given that a typical 1,000-piece puzzle averages around $30–$40, it’s not an egregious price for the amount of puzzle you’re getting. As a Pokémon fan myself, I’m betting my fellow collectors out there have spent close to that on cards.
It features 10 different environments with Pokémon of that type hiding in the scenes, from jungles to water to pretty fantasy forests. Some of the most famous Pokémon are front and center, while others are tucked away so you’ve got to look closely to really spot them. You’ll likely find hidden favorites as you put this together.
Now, what to do with this massive jigsaw once it’s pieced all together? After all, it is over 6 feet wide and 22 feet long. You can build it in 10 separate sections, which might be the most practical approach. If you’ve got a big basement or open area, you are set.
I live in a small apartment and will likely have to line it up in my hallway—but I know I’ll feel so accomplished once I’m able to finish it. Ravensburger says that the estimated build time is about 600 hours. That’s a lot of screen-free entertainment.
If the 40,320-piece option is out of your skill level, space, or, most importantly, budget, I’ve found other Pokémon-themed puzzles that you can snag from Amazon.
