A few men’s fashion staples never go out of style, and Lacoste’s short-sleeved polo shirt is one of them. Everyone from my picky teenage son to my golf-loving dad has this preppy staple, so Amazon’s 50%-off Prime Day deal is too good to pass up.

The polo, designed by tennis great René Lacoste in the 1920s, began as athletic wear. (His nickname was “the crocodile,” which gave the iconic logo on the front its name.) I’m old enough to remember it as the preppy shirt of the 1980s, and I was quite proud of my own on-trend pink polo—with the collar popped up, of course.

Decades later, I’m still shopping for Lacoste polos—but now for the men in my life. It’s a wardrobe staple (and a wonderful gift) he can wear with everything from sweatpants and jeans to crisp chinos.

Lacoste says the men’s polo has a straight cut and slim fit, so it may run small. If your guy likes his shirts roomy, consider sizing up. The shirt is made of 100% cotton, and Lacoste recommends machine-washing on cold and air-drying on a hanger or rack.

Right now, more than 20 colors are available in sizes from 3XS to 4XL with varying discounts per color and size (including my favorite preppy pink option). Grab one or two for yourself and the men in your life at this price while it lasts—and shop more Lacoste deals, just in time for gift-giving season.
