Summer is on the horizon—and with summer comes rain storms. If you’re anything like me, you probably think the pitter-patters of a downpour are soothing on their own—but there’s a way to make the rainwater flowing from your rooftop sound even more calming: a rain chain.
Rain chains are designed to simultaneously guide and slow down rushing water from gutters during a storm (therefore replacing standard downspouts), and they come in various materials and designs.
This one, in particular, is made with weather-resistant copper (per the brand) and features eight bells that emit an enchanting sound as water droplets fall down and around them.
The chain itself is just under 4 feet tall—however, the brand offers eight other options with varying heights and features. For instance, if your roof is on the taller side, you can buy a 10-foot chain that’s decorated with birds—and if you’d rather something smaller, you can opt for a different 4-foot option with butterflies or hearts.
Each rain chain, regardless of its height, is connected to a hook that helps ensure easy hanging—but keep in mind that you might need an adapter for proper installation beneath your gutter. (They’re available on Amazon for just $12.)
While you’re at, why not add another trendy element to your yard. Solar-powered globe lights. Like rain chains, designer Heidi Tate tells us that “they help create a mood while acting as sculptural elements that reflect personal style.” I feel calmer already.
