The water bottle craze isn’t dying down, and it’s about more than hydration. Sporting a trendy bottle is like wearing a designer scarf—it’s a fashion statement that reflects your personality and aesthetic. What your bottle brand of choice? Do you own the latest cool-girl bottle? What color or pattern do you have?

There’s a small thrill in owning the it item everyone is talking about. Last year (and even still) it was Owala, and the year before that it was all about Stanley tumblers. I still remember the popularity of Yeti and HydroFlask—and back in 2016, the S’Well. Every few months, a new brand seems to dominate social feeds and we recently starting spotting a new one: the HydroJug.

I started spotted the HydroJug on TikTok after Christmas when influencers shared their gift hauls, and the stainless steel bottles were making an appearance. The tumblers (both the Sport and the Traveler) are most popular for their clear lids, so you can monitor how much liquid is left, and their range of vibrant colors and patterns.

In the Good Housekeeping Institute Kitchen & Cooking Lab, our experts have tested water bottles for years, so we couldn’t resist getting our hands on one of these trendy bottles. Our Lab experts put the bottle through various tests to see how it compares to the dozens of other water bottles we’ve tried.

What we love about the HydroJug Sport:

Possibly the best thing about the HydroJug is the leak-proof design, which earned a perfect score in our tests—even when the bottle was shaken upside down. It also performed well during drop tests, receiving only a very slight dent on the bottom after being dropped multiple times.

It can go in the dishwasher—arguably another big pro, since so many water bottles (like the in-famous Owala) have to be washed by hand. “I found this tumbler easy to drink from, fill up, and clean—I just put it in the dishwasher,” said Eva Bleyer, reviews analyst in the Kitchen Lab, who’s personally tested more than 100 pieces of drinkware.

Eva also appreciated the clear lid, so she could monitor how much water was left in her tumbler throughout the work day. The handle felt comfortable to carry and the drinking spout folds easily into the lid when you’re not drinking.

Although the HydroJug Sport has been recently spotted on social media, it's been a fave around the Lab for sometime—about a year. Before its launch, we've tried and tested other bottles from the brand, like the HydroJug Traveler, which earned a spot as the best Stanley cup dupe. "We've been testing HydroJug water bottles for years, but their tumblers have been really exceptional in testing," said Bleyer.

From floral, plaid, and striped patterns to vibrant and neutral colors, the HydroJug is available in an array of playful designs—find one that fits your personality and have fun showing off the viral water bottle.
