A vacation spot doesn’t need to be hundreds of miles away on a remote beach or island—it can be right in your backyard. Just look at this wooden shed from Wayfair; if you forgo its typical use for storage, you can decorate it as a place to unplug and unwind mere steps away from your back door.

My favorite part about it is the built-in porch, which immediately stood out as a cozy spot to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning.

Of course, that’s not the only standout feature. It also comes with quaint flower boxes and shutters for the side windows, pre-shingled panels that add cottage-like charm to the gable-roof design, and a barn-like door that’s compatible with a padlock (the lock isn’t included, though).

Before you can enjoy your new home away from home, you’ll have to install it yourself. Don’t panic, though: According to the brand, the shed comes with assembly instructions and some hardware to help. However, you’ll need to provide a few key tools like a hammer, clamps, measuring tape, and a power drill.

The shed’s framing is made with western red cedar, but the flooring is plywood. Not to mention, the pieces are provided unfinished—but you’ll be able to paint and prep it however you’d like once it’s built. (I personally love the rustic wooden feel, but a nice pop of color would be delightful, I’m sure.)

Of course, this structure isn’t meant to be lived in—it’s simply designed to be used as a storage shed or a spot you can personalize for relaxing under a roof in the yard. According to the brand, it can withstand winds up to 80 mph...but if it’s that stormy outside, I’d recommend relaxing in your house instead. Still, it’s a fun retreat that lets you get away without leaving home.
