I was a huge fan of advent calendars growing up, so I’m loving the trend around adult-themed calendars that Good Housekeeping’s market editors have spotted—everything from mini books to baking accessories. As head of GH’s Home Improvement & Outdoor Lab, tools are one my biggest grown-up passions, so I was like a kid on Christmas morning when I learned about Craftsman’s limited-edition 12 Day Advent Calendar.
This specific calendar is sure to bring a smile to any DIYers on your holiday shopping list. I’m not going to give too much away, since advent calendars are all about the element of surprise. Suffice it to say, the Craftsman calendar is loaded with tools and accessories that belong in any toolbox, plus a few more playful items, like a magnetic key chain and a deck of Craftsman-themed playing cards. If you don’t mind a mild spoiler, you may also get a hidden reward for a future Craftsman purchase.
With all that rugged merch, Craftsman’s 12 Day Advent Calendar is bulkier than your average calendar, measuring 14-by-11 inches and weighing close to 8 pounds. And I won’t sugarcoat it, the price tag is quite a bit more than what my mom used to spend on calendars for us kids. But those advent calendars were always long forgotten by Christmas morning, whereas Craftsman’s version is sure to be a gift that keeps on giving. (And per the brand, it’s quoted at a $200 value.)
