Whether you're just starting out on your culinary journey or you're a tried and true home chef, a good set of knives is worth its weight in gold - and you need a good place to keep them tidy and out of the way. Enter the knife block. While many come with their own set of knives to get you started, there are plenty more you can purchase on their own to store knives as you collect them! Take a look at our favorites below.
You can literally never go wrong with Cuisinart, and this knife block is no exception. The 15-piece set comes with stainless steel knives that are ergonomically designed for comfort, and strong, durable bolsters for stability and control. The stainless and black set will look sleek on your countertop.
No counter space? No problem—you don't need to put a knife block on your counter, you can put one in your drawer! This one is perfect because it fits 99% of all standard kitchen drawers (it's 17 inches long, 9 inches wide), and it can hold up to 12 knives and a sharpener. Carved slots make retrieving your knives easy, and you don't have to worry about safety, either—knives will never slide or point up.
If you've already got a set of knives you love, opt for this block-only model. It features 20 individual slots that are a universal fit, so no matter what size knives you have, they should work in here. The horizontal slots have a wide opening for easy handling.
When you're displaying something on your counter, you want it to look good, and that's why we love this knife block. The block itself is a fun wood and blue combo, while the knives have a hint of blue for a color pop. It's modern, sophisticated, and looks great on your countertop.
If you like being able to see all of your knives at once, consider a magnetic knife block that still keeps your knives safe and off the countertop, but allows for a nice display in your kitchen. Add knives and metal implements on both sides to maximize your space.
The sustainability conscious amongst us will appreciate this 100% bamboo knife block that can fit easily into most kitchen drawers for neat organization and a sleek, put-together aesthetic. This design can hold five chef knives and six steak knives.
Got a few oddly shaped knives in your collection? When it becomes tough to fit the unique ones like cleavers and nakiri knives into a more standard knife block, check out one that can accommodate every kind! The inner bristles make room for every type of blade but are also fully detachable for easy cleaning.
When you really want to treat yourself, go for this Chicago Cutlery knife block set. In addition to a countertop block, you'll also get a Chef knife, serrated bread knife, two Santoku knives, a utility knife, a paring knife, eight steak knives, and a sharpening steel. The knives are made with high-carbon stainless steel, and come with cushion-grip handles for comfortable, precise cutting.
Have a few more knives than one bristle block can reasonably hold? This tiered option is just as easy to keep clean with removable bristles but allows for a larger collection of knives all at under $30.
No, really. Magnetic knife blocks are a thing, and they're beautiful. We particularly love how sleek and polished this pick from Coninx looks, and the bamboo construction makes it both highly durable and eco-friendly.
