Taco Bell is giving dessert lovers one more reason to celebrate. On March 10, the fast-food chain announced a slate of new menu items—including the return of a beloved snack, now with a sweet twist.
Taco Bell’s sweet empanadas are back
Inspired by its Caramel Apple Empanada, Taco Bell revealed it's rolling out new Chocolate Fudge and Caramel-flavored Empanadas. According to a press release, the updated empanadas will be "served as two warm, crispy empanadas for $2.99." Yes, you get both for under $3.
The empanadas will be available as part of Taco Bell’s Luxe Value Menu starting March 19. If you want to get one, though, you'd better act fast, as they will only be available for a limited time.
As for the flavors, Taco Bell says they deliver "double the decadence." One empanada is filled with salted caramel in a classic crust, and the other features rich chocolate fudge wrapped inside a crisp chocolatey shell. The brand says the dessert reflects its belief that “rich flavors and bold innovation are redefining what value looks like at an accessible price point."
A limited-edition treat
But hold on, there's more.
These empanada flavors will also appear in drink form with the Sweet Empanadas & Cream Chiller. The new frozen beverage blends together pieces of the Chocolate Fudge & Caramel Empanadas with a vanilla ice cream base, caramel swirls, and Mexican chocolate syrup, all topped with whipped cream for the perfect finish. It too is only available for a limited time, and is also (sadly for everyone else) exclusive to Live Más Café locations across Southern California, Texas, and Las Vegas.
About the rest of Taco Bell’s new menu
The desserts and drinks are just part of a much bigger menu expansion. During its Live Más Live event, Taco Bell revealed it's releasing three new versions of its Mexican Pizza: Mexican Pizza Empanadas, Cantina Chicken Mexican Pizza, and Strawberry & Cream Mexican Pizza Bite (for dessert!).
Additional new items include Cheesy G Sliders (in both chicken and carne asada), Diablo Dusted Crispy Chicken Nuggets, and a Flamin' Hot Mini Taco Salad.
While all of these will be limited-time offerings, Taco Bell did announce one major piece of news: Nacho Fries are finally becoming a part of the permanent menu.
So while you can get those any time, remember, the time is now for those dessert empanadas.
