Once an icon, always an icon. Fictional popstar Hannah Montana has inspired a new Starbucks secret menu drink—20 years after the Disney Channel show first debuted—and it’s every bit as glitzy as the double-life star herself.
The drink arrives just in time for the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu, where Miley Cyrus revisits the iconic set and reflects on playing the character who shaped so many childhoods.
What is the Starbucks Hannah Montana drink?
Like Miley Stewart’s hidden pop star persona, this nostalgic beverage exists on the down low. You can find the drink on Starbucks’ unofficial “secret menu.” Dubbed the Secret Popstar Refresher, the drink starts with a Strawberry Açaí Refresher, then gets a colorful upgrade with raspberry cream cold foam and two pumps of raspberry syrup.
How to order the Hannah Montana drink
To order, you can find it in the “Rewards” tab of the Starbucks app or customize it yourself in-store:
- Grande Strawberry Açaí Refresher
- Add raspberry cream cold foam
- Add 2 pumps raspberry syrup
- No strawberry inclusions
First impressions
On my short walk from Starbucks to the office, the drink already turned heads. One passerby even stopped to ask what it was.
Visually, it’s striking. The drink features three distinct layers: a light orchid layer of raspberry cream cold foam, followed by a hot pink center where the icy refresher meets the thick foam, and a rich, burgundy-like bottom, where much of the refresher flavor is concentrated.
The layers not only makes the drink look gorgeous but enticing to drink as well.
Taste test
The flavor experience mirrors the layered look. My first sip was mostly the raspberry cream cold foam—light, smooth, and subtly fruity. As the layers blended, the drink became bolder, delivering a sweet-tart raspberry punch.
It’s definitely a flavorful drink. The raspberry notes are intense, but the creamy foam softens the tartness and adds balance. On its own, the refresher might feel like a bit much, but together, the combination works. It’s bright, refreshing, and incredibly sippable.
Final thoughts
As someone who grew up in the 2000s and watched every episode of Hannah Montana as it aired, none of the drink’s flavors struck me as being particularly Hannah Montana–coded. However, the look—and the refresher base—did take me back, and to me, that’s the real draw.
Going to Starbucks and ordering a brightly colored refresher reminded me of middle school trips to the mall with friends, when I was too young to order coffee and wanted something more exciting than hot chocolate. We’d make our rounds through Claire’s, Bath & Body Works, and the food court before heading home.
That’s really the nostalgic pull of the Hannah Montana secret menu drink. It’s less about the flavor and more about the throwback feeling.
