Few fruits are as synonymous with summer as fresh blueberries. Sweet, slightly tart, and endlessly versatile, they're a seasonal favorite whether eaten by the handful or added to everything from cereal to desserts. And now Costco is giving the beloved berry the bakery treatment with a brand-new pie that's already turning heads.

According to various posts from shoppers, the warehouse chain's latest bakery offering features a generous layer of fresh blueberries atop a rich custard filling, creating a seasonal dessert that's quickly earning a spot on members' shopping lists.

As numerous members have reported on social media—and one Good Housekeeping staffer recently spotted in person—Costco has recently added a Blueberry Custard Pie to its stores’ bakery section. Featuring a flaky crust, silky vanilla custard, and a generous topping of fresh blueberries, the seasonal dessert puts one of summer’s favorite fruits front and center.

Weighing a whopping 4 pounds(!) and priced at just $18.99, the pie is the perfect addition to any parties, barbecues, or summertime celebrations. But you don’t need a special occasion to enjoy it. It’s just as well-suited for a weeknight dessert or an afternoon treat, offering bakery-quality flavor without any of the work or even turning on the oven.

Fruit desserts are practically made for summer, so it’s no surprise Costco shoppers are already buzzing about this new pie. After photos of the bakery item started popping up online, plenty of members said they couldn’t wait to get their hands on one.

“This looks so delish!” one user wrote on Instagram. “Just the custard alone is already worth buying,” added another account.

On a separate Instagram post, many Costco members shared similar sentiments when it came to the Blueberry Custard Pie. “So delicious. The bakery section is my weakness,” said one user. “Yum! Costco always comes through!!” echoed another.

Bottom line

At $18.99, the 4-pound pie is priced in line with Costco’s popular Tuxedo Chocolate Mousse Cake and classic cheesecake, making it a solid value for a bakery dessert that can easily feed a crowd.

As worthwhile as the new bakery item might be, it’s worth noting that, like most Costco bakery products, there’s no telling how long the brand will keep the Blueberry Custard Pie stocked in stores. That being said, any shoppers with a deep love for fresh blueberries and/or custardy desserts should think about picking one up from the warehouse sooner rather than later!
