Parents and puree fans should check their snack stash after a nationwide recall was issued for certain fruit puree pouches. On July 21, PT Organics Limited announced a voluntary recall of select pouches of its Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry after discovering a packaging defect that can affect the safety of the product.

Here's how to check your pouches and what to do next.

What is being recalled?

According to the recall notice published by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), this recall covers Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry Fruit Puree Pouches in the 4 oz. (113 g) size. Affected pouches have the barcode 8 15367 01078 0 and lane number "4," printed on the rear right-hand side seam, along with one of six best-before dates: 01/19/2027, 01/20/2027, 03/17/2027, 03/18/2027, 05/14/2027, or 05/15/2027. The best-before dates are also stamped in black ink on the back of the pouch. No other Pumpkin Tree products, flavors, or best-before dates are part of this recall.

Why are these pouches being recalled?

According to the company, the recall was initiated due to "an internal packaging defect that may result in the presence of a strand of soft, food-grade plastic in the finished product." The company added that it initiated the voluntary recall after its packaging supplier recalled a production run of defective pouches. "PT Organics’ inspections of finished product made with the recalled packaging confirmed the presence of a strand of a soft, food-grade plastic attached to the inside of a small number of pouches," the company shared. It also noted that no injuries have been reported in connection with the recall.

Where were the pouches sold?

The recalled pouches were sold exclusively at Kroger, Meijer, and Target stores nationwide between March 6 and July 13, 2026.

What should I do if I have this product?

PT Organics stated in the recall notice that consumers and caregivers should check any pouches they have against the barcode, lane number, and best-before dates listed above. "Consumers or caregivers who have recalled product in their possession should dispose of it or return the product to the place of purchase," it added. "It should not be eaten or fed to another person."
