The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium is the top overall pick in our latest review of 20 smart thermostats — and it's the best Amazon Prime Day deal our experts in the Home Improvement & Outdoor Lab have spotted so far. During this week's sale, it'll be $40 off its original price.
Even better? Upgrading to a smart thermostat can lead to more savings by reducing your heating and cooling bills, according to the U.S. Energy Department. That's because the WiFi-enabled device will make automatic, energy-saving adjustments to your home’s temperature. It's a win-win.
Your savings from the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium could be even greater (the brand claims as high as 26%). Thanks to an array of advanced sensors, the Ecobee learns your routines and preferences and adjusts your home’s temperature accordingly (and it did so better than the others we tested).
It features satellite room sensors that help reduce hot and cold spots throughout the home. “Excellent ‘set it and forget it’ capabilities,” said one consumer tester. “It always knows exactly what temperature the house should be.” The thermostat also uses motion sensors to keep tabs on occupancy, so you’re not wasting money heating and cooling empty parts of the house.
There's also a built-in air monitor that helps the thermostat alert you if there are pollutants in your home — and it does so through the Ecobee app, which testers found useful and intuitive.
That peace of mind, along with all the added comfort and efficiency, makes the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium one of the smartest smart-home devices around. Throw in the Amazon Prime Day savings — and for anyone in the market for a new thermostat, this one is a no-brainer.
