Every night when I fall asleep, I go through a cycle of stages. I go to bed feeling pretty cold—something I don’t mind because I know that in just a couple of hours, I’ll wake up in a deep sweat (only to wake up in the morning freezing again). It happens nightly—in fact, last night at around 2 a.m., I huffed and puffed half awake because I felt like I was drowning in my sweat (sorry if that’s TMI). I made a mental note that something needs to change, like tomorrow!
As someone who’s covered deals and best products at Good Housekeeping for years, I’ve been hearing murmurs about the Evercool Comforting Comforter by REST. Our Textiles Lab experts at the GH Institute have named it a top performer again and again, saying it aced our moisture-wicking tests—and testers have said the fabric felt “icy” to the touch. Plus, it’s won a Good Housekeeping Bedding Award a few years in a row.
I’ve honestly thought about getting the comforter several times, but I keep telling myself I’ll make the plunge once it’s on sale. Well now I have no excuse, because it’s 25% off today.
We talk a lot about bedding at GH, but this was actually named the best overall cooling comforter after thorough testing and consideration. A lot of the magic comes from the material: The shell is made of 90% nylon (fast-drying and moisture-wicking) and 10% spandex knit (for stretch and added comfort). The fill, on the other hand, consists of 70% Sorona polyester and 30% Tencel lyocell fiber.
Several hot sleepers tested this comforter, with one saying: "My husband hates if I open a window at night, so I regularly (almost every night) woke up soaked in sweat. Since using the Rest comforter, I have been comfortable all night long! Somehow it manages to regulate our temperatures to keep us snug and cozy, but not overheated all night."
Another tester said, “I feel like I’m wrapped up in a soft, cool cloud when I sleep with this comforter.”
Soft and icy cool? I’m sold and finally caving in. I’m sure it’ll lead to a better sleeping experience for not just myself, but my husband too.
