Although I live in a Manhattan apartment with no outdoor space, I dream of the day in which I have my own backyard. The latest addition to my backyard bucket list? A dedicated reading shed that houses all of my beloved books and has ample space to curl up with my latest read.

Take this colonial tiny home, complete with a working window (important for natural reading light!) and double doors to let the spring air in. There’s even a flower box that you can fill with blooms.
Similar to the concept of a “she-shed,” a reading shed is designed to be a cozy hideaway for reading, relaxing, or enjoying any other analog hobbies. A quick scroll through TikTok and Instagram reveals reading sheds spruced up with plush chairs, book-themed art and decor, and even coffee makers, so you’ll have everything you need to conquer your TBR.
Of course, purchasing your reading shed is only the first step. In order to transform a standard storage shed into a mini library, you’ll likely need to add shelves, furniture, and decor. Some might even want to hook up electricity. Luckily, most of the options here have floors and windows. There’s even one with a skylight to let the sun shine through and another with a small porch with space for a rocking chair.
