If you’ve ever swooned over Jonathan Adler’s bold, playful design style, you’re in for a treat. The potter and designer has teamed up with Michaels on a collection of statement home decor, entertaining essentials, and, as you would expect, craft kits. Beginning on Friday, April 17, you’ll be able to add a dose of Adler’s aesthetic to your home by shopping the line in Michaels stores or on Michaels.com.
“I’m a craftsperson first and foremost, so partnering with Michaels—the ultimate destination for creativity and celebration—felt like a natural homecoming. It was a pleasure to work alongside the super-talented Michaels’ team to translate my designs to new categories. Like, I didn’t even know what ‘Diamond Art’ was and now there are fantastic diamond art kits featuring work by me, me, me,” Adler told Good Housekeeping.
Michaels’ chief merchandising officer, Stacey Shively, adds that the announcement is a major accomplishment for the retailer. “This partnership is an exciting milestone in our transformation to be the destination for creativity and celebration in every community,” Shivley says. “By partnering with a visionary like Jonathan Adler, we are making his elevated, iconic designs accessible to more people, all while maintaining the incredible value our customers expect from us.”
Whether you’re a DIY fanatic or devout design buff, there’s something for everyone in the assortment. Want to transform a drab wall? Take your pick of mirrors, patterned picture frames, and mood-boosting wall art (there’s a fun “Sun, Soleil, and Sol,” print, for instance) to refresh your space. While the craft kits, including diamond art and crochet pillow covers, boast the designer’s signature patterns, there’s still loads of room to express your creativity. “We introduced what I think of as “design blueprints”—unfinished surfaces featuring my iconic shapes that DIYers can customize with their own colors and finishes,” Adler says.
Any hostess with the mostess will be delighted by the tabletop and barware selections. Adler says this category was non-negotiable. “Honestly, I was being selfish: I’ve been on the hunt for chic partyware for ages and have never been able to find it,” he explains. “So, I decided to make it! I wanted to bring my favorite colors and patterns to the table–literally.”
Regardless of what you add to your cart, one thing is certain—you’ll get a good taste of Adler’s “Modern American glamour” signature style. “‘Modern’ because everything goes through my contemporary filter, ‘American’ because it’s optimistic, and ‘glamour’ because everything should be glamorous,” Adler says.
