When I think of accessories that continue to stand the test of time, I think of Ray-Ban sunglasses—specifically, Ray-Ban Wayfarers. The style was upgraded back in the 2000s (after originally being released in 1952!), and ever since then, they’ve been the “it” pair of shades. Just ask Kate Middleton; she has been seen wearing the Ray-Ban Wayfarers on multiple occasions, even in recent years.
There’s one pair in particular that caught my eye—the Ray-Ban Wayfarers II that she wore at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships back in 2019. I found the exact pair she was seen wearing from that event—it features a tortoise frame and brown polarized lenses. And it’s on sale for 50% off right now. They’re currently $122 on Amazon (marked down from $244), making them the lowest we’ve seen.
These specific sunglasses are on sale in multiple colors, but Kate’s pair is the cheapest. Still, you’ll find the tortoise frames with green lenses and the black frames with green lenses at 30% off. Just keep in mind that the green-lens options aren’t polarized (Kate’s pair is).
The fact that Kate wears Ray-Bans already has me sold—but it also helps that our editors and analysts at the Good Housekeeping Institute love the brand. In fact, our pros have tested the brand officially recently and were wowed by them: though it’s worth mentioning that the glasses we tried were more high-tech than the sunglasses that are on sale.
Lexie Sachs, the executive director of strategy and operations at the GH Institute, got her hands on the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2, which are designed to use AI and capture images and take videos in real time.
Sachs used them daily while on vacation, and later wrote in her review of the Meta Gen 2, “I use them constantly and love how they’ve helped me capture memories without missing the moment itself.”
Maybe Kate will be giving these Ray-Bans a try next! But in the meantime, I’ll be checking out her Wayfarers while they’re still half off.
