It doesn’t matter where Meghan Markle goes; she’s always dressed perfectly polished, even on casual outings with the family. Meghan recently went to Disneyland in mid-May with Prince Harry, their kids, and Meghan’s mother, Doria to celebrate Mother’s Day—and the Duchess of Sussex was dressed in a timeless ensemble: a crisp white button-up, cuffed jeans, and of course, an adorable Minnie Mouse ears hat.
But I was most curious about what shoes Meghan wore, because anyone who has visited a theme park (especially one like Disneyland) will know that comfortable footwear is a must for walking long hours. So when I scrolled through Meghan’s Instagram carousel from the visit and noticed she wore the iconic Veronica Beard penny loafers—I thought, “Genius!”
Veronica Beard penny loafers are widely praised online for being comfortable, as they’re equipped with padded footbeds and suede (or leather) uppers. But what makes these loafers stand out aesthetically is the golden, logo-engraved coin that peeks out from the opening atop each shoe.
You can find Meghan’s exact loafers on Nordstrom, and they come in sizes 5 through 12 in leather or suede finishes. Sizes are limited, however, and they cost $395. Luckily, I found a few options that give you a nearly identical look for less.
There are a ton of affordable penny loafers on the market, but Journey West, a brand you can find on Amazon, makes a pair that also features a single golden coin in tge slit of each shoe. You can also get them in a similar deep brown like Meghan’s, or you can get them in a lighter brown, black, or white. The Journey West loafers typically retail for $75, but all colors cost $69 today.
And if you wanted even more options, I found a few that barely break $50. They don’t feature a coin, but they’re worth considering if you wanted a chunkier heel or lighter color.
