Chances are, when you snap a photo you do one of three things: let it sit untouched on your device's hard drive, share it on social media, or maybe even print it. Having a digital picture frame ensures that your favorite memories are always on display, not just sitting idle and unseen on your smartphone or camera's memory card. We've looked around for the best digital photo frames and narrowed our list down to 10 top selects. Our picks range from affordable to luxurious, but all are easy to operate and will fit any home décor scheme—not to mention, will make you want to display all of your photos.
The Nixplay Smart digital photo frame has an IPS display with a detailed resolution of 1,280 by 800 pixels, as well as Wi-Fi connectivity. The latter allows you to sync your favorite images from Facebook, Dropbox, and Google Photos (among others) from anywhere in the world. With this one, you can also upload images to the frame via Nixplay's own mobile app. Available in several colors, the frame has a built-in motion sensor, so it'll turn itself off when you're not in the room.
It even syncs with your smart speaker for playing custom playlists of all your photos, meaning you can ask Alexa to play specific slideshows for whatever occasion—whether it be photos from vacation, past holidays, or of family get-togethers.
You can send photos to your loved ones anytime and anywhere since this frame lets you update it just by sending a quick email. It's a perfect gift for a parent or grandparent thanks to its easy-to-set-up touch-screen display.
You can even send a thank you note to the person who emailed you a photo straight from it. The frame has enough storage capacity for 8,000 photos and is equipped with a gorgeous 10-inch 1024-by-600 resolution screen.
Intricately etched stainless steel aside, this Aura frame stands out for one other important reason: It comes with unlimited photo and video storage. Simply upload using the connected app on your smartphone or Aura's website, and you'll be able to display your holiday pictures on its ultra-high-def 2048 x 1536 resolution screen.
Set it up as a slideshow to your preferred speed, choose between chronological or random shuffle, and take advantage of the built-in speakers for watching videos. There are a lot of features packed into this 9.7-inch screen.
If you'd rather not fuss with transferring photos from a computer or smartphone to a memory card, the PhotoSpring has a built-in battery and touch screen similar to a tablet and lets you browse through all your photos quickly and easily. Of course, you can still use a convenient smartphone app for pushing photos from your smartphone to the frame if you desire.
This easy-to-use frame features a sharp 1280 by 800 pixel-resolution display. It also supports the playback of videos.
The Aura Digital Photo Frame offers incredibly sharp and detailed image quality in an attractive 9-inch black frame that'll surely match any decor. Compared to our best overall pick, Aura's frame does offer a more impressive image quality in higher resolution. However, the Aura Mason is much harder to use if you need to pull photos from your social media channels or from online photo storage sites.
We only recommend it for folks who plan to upload images directly from their Android smartphone/tablet, iPhone, or iPad. Convoluted app aside, other key features for this frame include a slideshow function, a motion sensor, and a "smart select" mode that skips low-resolution and blurry photos, or ones that contain nudity.
This affordable digital photo frame by Atatat has a 7-inch display with 1,280 by 800 pixels and a 16:9 aspect ratio. In addition to showcasing images, the frame can play 1080p video footage saved in MP4 format.
Key features of the gadget include an SD card and USB slots for loading images or video, adjustable brightness and grayscale, and stereo speakers. Atatat offers the frame in multiple sizes and price points ranging from 7 to 15.6 inches and even comes with Wi-Fi capabilities.
The Meural 27-inch Smart Frame has a stunning HD display panel, so it'll be able to showcase your artwork with incredible detail. You can upload images via a Wi-Fi connection, and an annual membership gives you access to 30,000-plus works of art, from classic to contemporary.
With just a wave of your hand, you can change whatever is displayed on the screen. The frame is available in a number of finishes, including black, white, and wood tones.
The brushed gold frame makes this HD option feel instantly elevated, which is especially ideal if you need something on the sophisticated side for a wedding or baby gift. The frame is Wi-Fi enabled, and you can pair multiple smartphones with it at once to do things like upload photos or add a Snapchat filter. Other helpful features include a clock and real-time weather display.
We also like that it's free-standing and wall-mountable and that it will auto-rotate to accommodate both landscape and portrait pictures.
No internet, no problem: This pick is 4G-enabled with a built-in SIM card for easy use (though it is compatible with Wi-Fi too, for versatility). The 10-inch design offers 1280 by 800-pixel resolution, with a touchscreen that makes it even more user-friendly. Manually scroll photos, "like" photos, and even send text messages all through this simple screen—think of it as a low-tech way to keep your older family members connected.
As cool and convenient as digital photo frames are, aesthetically speaking, they stand out. Aluratek's 10-inch design helps put an end to that: It features a rustic frame that's made from distressed wood. The sharp, high-resolution 1024 by 600 display works by connecting a USB drive or SD card directly into the frame to begin the automatic slideshow. We also like that it requires zero setup—there's no software to install—but just note that this option is not Wi-Fi connected, so it lacks smart features.
