Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb co-hosted Today’s fourth hour from 2018 to 2025.
During the August 21 taping of Today, Jenna revealed that Hoda is the godmother to her daughter, Poppy.
Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb share an even more special relationship than fans may realize.
The women co-anchored Today’s fourth-hour series, Today With Hoda and Jenna, from 2018 to 2025. And even now that Jenna co-hosts the program with Sheinelle Jones, Hoda still stops by occasionally. On August 21, she appeared on Today with Jenna and Sheinelle alongside Jenna’s middle daughter, Poppy Hager. As Poppy gave Hoda a big hug, Jenna revealed that Hoda is her godmother.
“Poppy Hager! Poppy, remember Hoda?” Jenna exclaimed in the clip posted on YouTube. “Your godmother, Hoda?”
“Poppy, you’re all grown up!” Hoda said. “Poppy, I love you, I miss you.”
Hoda is mom to two daughters, Haley Joy and Hope Catherine, whom she shares with her ex-fiancé, Joel Schiffman. She adopted Haley and Hope at ages 52 and 54, respectively, and has spoken about what motherhood has meant to her.
"If you really want something like that in your life, you can have it—no matter your age, no matter the time," she told People in April 2026. "And of all the things that I feel like have gone right in my life, those two, Haley and Hope, are the two that really count these days. So I've learned the value of importance."
