Jenna Bush Hager is finally sharing details about her latest project.
Over the last year, the Today show host has served as executive producer of the upcoming drama Line of Fire. Created and written by Josh Safran, the show follows a family of agents who work across the U.S Marshals and the Secret Service. The cast includes 9-1-1 alum Peter Krause as patriarch Mike Hollingsworth.
The series premieres Monday, September 21, 2026, at 10 p.m ET on NBC, and Jenna commented on how it came to be during the August 20 taping of Today With Jenna and Sheinelle.
“So, Josh Safran, who’s the writer-creator, we were talking actually, at my sister’s kid’s birthday party,” she explained in a clip posted on Instagram. “We were talking about this idea that when you protect other people, and I had the Secret Service for eight years. So, I sort of know the dynamics about it. Sometimes it’s hard to protect the people you love. So, we came up with this concept, and it’s kind of based on somebody that he knows, where every family member works in a different [job]. There are two Secret Service men, and others who work in the FBI and other protective services.”
Sheinelle Jones was excited to hear more.
“So it’s like you see them here, but then what goes on in their own lives?” she asked. “That’s genius.”
“There hasn’t been a show on NBC like this in a long time,” Jenna responded. “So, we’re so excited about it because it is a mystery.”
Fans are just as ready to see what Jenna has in store.
“I’m so excited. You are brilliant. So. This is going to be epic! 🔥🙌❤️,” one person wrote in the comments. “I can't wait for it 😍👏👏👏,” another agreed. “Saw a trailer and it looks so good!” a different follower added.
