Television has experienced quite a phenomenon in the hockey world over the last few months, thanks to shows like Heated Rivalry taking over social media. And now, it looks like we scored another goal in this genre, as Amazon Prime Video debuted its newest romantic drama, Off Campus, for folks to indulge in.
Based on the book series of the same name from Elle Kennedy, Off Campus follows a college hockey team as they go through romantic relationships, drama, and a lot of time playing on the ice. The show specifically centers around captain Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli) and music major Hannah Wells (Ella Bright), two people who couldn’t be more different from the outside. But as they learn more about one another and their pasts, the two find love in ways neither one could expect.
Given how big of a hit Off Campus has been, it makes sense that a lot of fans are curious about the show’s future.
Is Off Campus getting a season 2?
In a surprise turn of events, fans learned in a February report from Variety that Off Campus had been renewed for season 2. What’s more, the announcement came three months before the show even premiered on Amazon Prime Video.
“Off Campus captures the kind of emotionally charged, character-driven storytelling that truly resonates with our global Prime Video audience,” said Peter Friedlander, head of global television for Amazon MGM Studios, in a statement to the outlet. “With its passionate fan base, rich source material, and an incredible creative team bringing Briar U to life, we knew that this series had the depth and momentum to continue beyond its first season.”
“Set against the high-intensity world of college hockey, the series explores deeply personal journeys and is brought to life by a tremendously talented cast whose chemistry and authenticity make every moment feel real. We have great confidence in the way [executive producer/co-showrunner] Louisa [Levy] has mastered this adaptation, and we’re excited to give fans even more of the romance, friendship, and heart that define the series.”
Naturally, the cast was excited about this reveal about Off Campus season 2, and they made sure to voice it when the news broke on Instagram.
“AHHHHHHHHHHHH…,” Ella wrote in the comments. “I cried,” Mika Abdalla (who plays Allie Hayes) penned. “THIS IS AWESOME,” Antonio Cipriano (who portrays John Logan) added.
What’s more, the fans were equally thrilled about Off Campus returning for another season.
“Excited for season 2 😭🥺😘,” one person cried. “IM IN TEARS THIS IS THE BEST NEW EVER! Lol, and everyone doubting them, look at the stars now they deserve it!!! 😍,” another exclaimed. “10/10 SHOW. CONGRATULATIONS ❤️,” a different follower shouted.
Is Off Campus season 2 filming?
Even though we don’t have much info out yet, we do know that Off Campus season 2 is going into production very soon. In fact, Belmont and Ella confirmed they were going to film new episodes when appearing on the Today show on May 15.
“We’ll be there in a few days,” Belmont shared in an Instagram clip.
“I’ve got two [scripts] in my inbox that I have yet to read because of this press tour,” Ella jokingly added. “Hopefully no one’s watching!”
Well, we certainly have a lot to think about … and maybe we’ll rewatch Off Campus in the meantime!
