Microfiber cloths might be one of the most underrated upgrades you can make to your cleaning routine. Unlike standard cotton rags, microfiber is designed to trap dust, lift grime, and absorb liquid without pushing messes around or leaving streaks behind. That means fewer passes over the same surface and better results on everything from mirrors and stainless steel to countertops and electronics.
Our top picks:
- Best Overall: Norwex Enviro Cloth
- Best Value: Fabuloso Microfiber Cleaning Cloths
- Most Absorbent: Mr.Siga Microfiber Cleaning Cloths
- Best for Windows: E-Cloth Window Cleaner Kit
- Best for Stainless Steel: Weiman Microfiber Cloth
In the Good Housekeeping Institute Cleaning Lab, we’ve tested countless cleaning tools, and microfiber cloths are a staple we reach for daily. Many of our favorites—the ones that have proven to be the most absorbent, durable, and overall effective—are available on Amazon. Whether you're tackling everyday spills or doing a deep clean, these are the best microfiber cloths to keep on hand.
Pros
- OEKO-TEX certified
- Manufacturer claims it can remove up to 99% of bacteria from surfaces
- Very absorbent
Cons
- Pricey for a single cloth
Measuring more than 13 inches on each side, this generously sized pick (a Good Housekeeping Cleaning & Organizing Award winner) is versatile enough to handle everything from messy countertops to soap scum on shower doors, and it leaves glass streak-free in the process. It also pulls double duty for dry dusting more delicate surfaces like electronics, screens, and even your car’s interior. What really sets it apart is its proprietary BacLock coating, an antimicrobial treatment designed to help resist the buildup of bacteria and odors so the cloth stays fresher between washes. The brand claims it can remove up to 99% of bacteria from surfaces while cleaning.
In our tests, this OEKO-TEX–certified cloth delivered standout absorbency and performance, especially when paired with the brand’s cleaning paste. Together, they removed stubborn scuffs from painted surfaces that even a traditional eraser sponge couldn’t tackle. The main drawback? It’s pricier than most options, and each pack includes just one cloth.

Pros
- Very absorbent
- Comes in multiple colors
- Did not shed or streak on glass
Cons
- Shouldn't be dried with heat
This set from Fabuloso stood out immediately for its impressive absorbency, especially considering the budget-friendly price. In our tests, it outperformed every other reusable paper towel alternative we tried when it came to holding liquid. They absorbed over 140 mL of water when fully submerged and wiped up spills in a single pass without leaving behind streaks or residue.
These were also among the largest cloths in our lineup, allowing you to tackle more surface area and bigger messes. On glass, they cleaned effectively without shedding lint or causing noticeable streaking. The multi-color pack also makes it easy to assign cloths to different tasks. They are machine-washable, but for longevity, it's best to air-dry them or tumble-dry on a no-heat setting.

Pros
- Comes in 7 colors, including a variety pack of 4 different colors
- Affordable pricing for pack of 12
- Generously-sized
Cons
- Not dryer-safe
For a product you’ll reach for constantly, having multiples is key, and this 12-pack makes it easy to keep a dedicated cloth for every task. The set comes in four different colors, so you can assign each one to a specific area (think: kitchen, bathroom, windows, and dusting) to help prevent cross-contamination. You can also buy single packs in six additional colors for even more versatility.
Each cloth is slightly smaller than our top pick (by about an inch), but still offers plenty of surface area to handle everyday messes. They were also the most absorbent of any cloth we tested, holding 203 mL of water when submerged. They’re effective with just water or your favorite cleaner, and cleanup is simple. Toss them in the washing machine when you’re done. The only caveat is the brand recommends skipping the dryer, so you’ll need to let them air-dry.
Pros
- Eliminates the need to use cleaning spray
- Machine-washable and dryer-safe
- Versatile across glass surfaces
Cons
- We noticed slight fraying after repeated washes
Also a Cleaning & Organizing Award winner, this window-cleaning kit from E-cloth takes much of the hassle (and mess) out of making glass shine. It relies on water alone, so you can skip the sprays and paper towels that tend to drip, lint, and streak. Use the damp, waffle-weave cloth to loosen and lift grime, then follow with the smooth polishing cloth for a clear, streak-free finish.
In our tests, the two-step method was refreshingly easy and delivered impressive results. It worked quickly across a range of surfaces, including home windows, car glass, and even outdoor tables. Both cloths are machine-washable and safe for the dryer, though we noticed minor fraying after repeated laundering.
Pros
- 2-in-1 design is ribbed on one side and smooth on the other
- Large enough for big appliances
- Washer- and dryer-safe
Cons
- Need to use with a spray cleaner for best results
Pair this microfiber cloth with your go-to stainless steel cleaner, and it makes quick work of fingerprints, smudges, and residue. The Good Housekeeping Seal holder features a dual-sided design: one ribbed side to lift away grime and a smooth side to buff surfaces to a streak-free shine. In our Lab tests, it left appliances like dishwashers, refrigerators, and sinks looking noticeably polished.
It’s also very user-friendly with clear instructions right on the packaging. At nearly 14 inches, the cloth offers plenty of surface area to tackle larger appliances without constant repositioning. When it’s time to clean it, just toss it in the washing machine and dry on low heat.
How we test microfiber cloths
In the Good Housekeeping Institute Cleaning Lab, we evaluate microfiber cloths the same way you’d use them at home—on real messes, across a range of surfaces. Here’s what we look at:
✔️ Design and construction: We consider size, material, and overall quality right out of the package.
✔️ Cleaning performance: Each cloth is tested on surfaces like stainless steel, windows, shower doors, and electronics to see how effectively it lifts dirt, grease, and grime. We also evaluate how easy it is to clean these surfaces, plus check for streaks, residue, or lint left behind after cleaning.
✔️ Absorbency: Cloths are soaked and weighed to measure how much liquid they can hold.
✔️ Durability: After multiple wash-and-dry cycles, we reevaluate each cloth to see how well it holds up in terms of shape, texture, and performance.
What to look for when shopping for microfiber cloths
Though microfiber cloths may seem like any other rag, a few small details can make a big difference in how well they clean and how long they last:
✔️ Quality construction: Most microfiber cloths are made from a blend of polyester and nylon, but not all are created equal. Look for tightly woven fibers with secure loops (or “piles”) that won’t easily snag or shed. Finished or reinforced edges can also help prevent fraying over time.
✔️ Size: The right size depends on how you plan to use it. Smaller cloths are easier to maneuver for tasks like cleaning glasses or electronics, while larger ones are better suited for countertops, windows, and bigger surfaces or appliances.
✔️ Care: For maximum convenience, opt for cloths that can go in the washing machine and ideally the dryer, too.
