Starbucks announced a new cup collection with Dutch character Miffy.
The collection consists of six main items, a new gift card design, and three online exclusives.
The collection will be available starting May 19 at select locations.
Starbucks is always delivering cute new merch. The coffee giant often collaborates with artists, brands, and even beloved cartoons, like the Peanuts franchise, on cup collections. Most recently, Starbucks dropped an adorable cup collection in collaboration with Miffy, the Dutch children's character that’s seen renewed popularity in recent years.
Miffy, originally called Nijntje, was created by Dutch author and artist Dick Bruna in 1955. Bruna’s inspiration for Miffy was a little white rabbit he spotted while vacationing in Egmond aan Zee, Netherlands. He opted for a simple design for the white rabbit, adding two black circles for eyes, an X that serves as the nose, mouth, and whiskers, and a minimalist dress, often in a primary color.
Starbucks’ collection highlights Miffy’s growing fandom over the past few years. While Miffy has been popular in Europe and Asia for decades, the adorable rabbit has seen a significant increase in popularity in the U.S. since 2020. I myself have multiple Miffy stickers in my planner, which is right next to me as I’m typing this.
“Miffy is multigenerational,” said Krystn Fuerst, the Starbucks brand manager who led the collaboration, in a press release. “People enjoy her retro charm—whether they grew up with Miffy or if they are finding her now.”
What's in the Miffy + Starbucks collection?
The collection features six main items: a boxed Miffy plush dressed in a Starbucks barista uniform, a ceramic mug, a water bottle, a cold cup, a stainless steel cold cup, and a stainless steel tumbler. In stores, customers can also buy a Starbucks gift card featuring Miffy. Exclusively online at Starbucks Shop, they can purchase a larger plush, a nylon tote, and a matching zippered pouch.
Boxed Plush
This dreamy, limited-edition Miffy plush ($34.95) is wearing the classic green Starbucks apron and comes in a box for easy gifting.
Ceramic Mug
I’m already obsessed with this mug (14-ounces, $29.95). Not only does it feature cute drawings of Miffy’s face and Starbucks’ cups, but it also has a small Miffy figurine attached to its silicone lid.
Water Bottle
Also adorned with drawings of Miffy in her iconic dress, this 27-ounce bottle ($32.95) is the cutest item to carry with you everywhere.
Cold Cup
Featuring a drawing of Miffy as if she were sitting across from you in conversation, this cold up (24-ounces, $27.95) is one of my favorites. Like the ceramic mug, it also features a small Miffy charm attached to the straw.
Stainless Steel Cold Cup
This second cold cup (26-ounces, $32.95) is unique to the U.S. market in shades of honey, jade green, and pale pink. It features gorgeous pop-art style drawings of Miffy.
Stainless Steel Tumbler
This soft pink tumbler (18-ounces, $27.95) features large-scale drawings of Miffy and Starbucks cups and a bright pink top.
When can I get the Miffy + Starbucks collection?
The collection will be available starting May 19 at participating Starbucks coffeehouses in the U.S. and Canada while supplies last. However, judging by their past collections, this one will likely sell out fast, so I wouldn’t wait too long to head to your nearest Starbucks.
