No matter how many times I’m encouraged to try our GH Kitchen team’s latest 20-minute one pot recipe, all I really want to do when I’m tired is to stick a supermarket pizza in the oven.

But while it may be the easy option, it’s not always the quickest, with 15 minutes of waiting for the oven to heat up and then the actual cooking time…

Which is why I was very excited to hear about how well Tefal’s latest air fryer–pizza-oven hybrid performed in testing. The 4.5L Easy Fry Pizza Air Fryer is specifically designed for cooking pizzas (although it also doubles as a very capable air fryer) and it promises to cook your pizza in just six minutes from fresh and 10 from frozen.

Did it live up to its claims? Keep reading to find out more about this versatile air fryer and see how it performed in the lab.

The Tefal Easy Fry Pizza: is it worth it?

It genuinely cooks pizza in six minutes

I was very happy to find that the Easy Fry Pizza does indeed cook pizzas in six minutes, a gift on busy/lazy days. I popped a simple cheese and tomato pizza into the air fryer and used the pre-set ‘fresh pizza’ button on the touch screen display. After six minutes, the cheese had melted nicely and the edges were crisp.

As someone who’s tested dedicated pizza ovens, I’ll admit it wasn’t the most beautifully cooked pizza in the world. You won’t get those golden spots of charring (you need much higher temperatures for that), but, for an air fryer, the pizza was well-cooked and genuinely impressed.

A pizza inside the Tefal Easy Fry Pizza Air Fryer

This is all down to Tefal’s clever pizza-compatible design. While most air fryers use a heating element at the top, Tefal combines this with a heated base and good air circulation to achieve those crispy results all-round.

It worked a treat with a frozen pizza too, taking just 10 minutes to deliver similar results. It’s worth noting that it can only fit pizzas up to 11-inches (or 27-centimetres), but that’s still large enough for a dinner for one.

It performed brilliant in our air fryer tests, too

Not only did it deliver an excellent pizza, but this multitasking cooker scored a total of 91/100 in the Good Housekeeping Institute air fryer tests.

The wide, shallow basket fits around a kilo of frozen chips and – while the pre-set programme takes 35 minutes to cook – they came out well-browned without being overcooked and had a satisfying crunch to them. I liked how fluffy each chip was on the inside too, helping them feel light and non-greasy.

It was a similar story with our chicken Kyivs, which cooked in 25 minutes. The coating was crisp and golden, while the meat inside remained juicy and tender.

The Tefal Easy Fry offers good value for money

Tefal’s Easy Fry Pizza Air Fryer is one of the best value models I’ve seen in a while (and we’ve tested almost 80 air fryers). It has an RRP of £89.99, but you can currently get it for under £70 at Argos.

Its single basket design and small capacity may limit what you can cook inside – I couldn’t fit an entire roast chicken in there for example – but if you regularly make dinner for yourself or for just you and your partner, this offers plenty of space for everyday air frying – and speedy pizza toasting, of course.
