It's very easy to use – the dustbin is easy to remove and empty, the controls are straightforward and it's lightweight, too. Just note that on max power, it only lasts 20 minutes, but it should only activate this mode in really grubby areas. A fantastic stick vacuum for carpeted homes in particular.

If you have hard flooring, this stick vacuum would make a great value buy – it sucks up small and large debris alike brilliantly from hard flooring, but struggled more on long-pile carpet. We love that the battery dock can be wall-mounted for neat storage and it comes with a range of helpful tools.

It earned full marks for its anti-hair wrap technology and handled bundles of pet hair well, too, lifting most of it in just one pass. Battery life is good, too, with up to an hour on regular mode and 25 minutes on turbo.

This cordless wet and dry cleaner is designed primarily for sealed hard floors – we tested it as a hard floor cleaner – and it performed best when tackling wet mess. In our tests, it removed tomato soup with one sweep and handled dried mud, tea and wine well too, while tougher stains were eliminated with several passes or with the help of the Turbo mode.

It's less consistent when vacuuming dry dust, needing a couple of sweeps to clear it, but it's great to have the option for rugs or small areas of carpet. A great buy for hard floor owners.

This stick vacuum is a strong choice for hard floors, where it picked up almost all the dust we laid down on laminate and floorboards. It also handled larger debris well across different surfaces, and its flexible body made it easier to reach under low furniture. The soft roller’s edge-cleaning feature did a great job of cleaning right up against walls, too.

It’s easy to use, with a clear screen showing power and battery life, and the floor stand doubles as a charging dock and accessory holder. Just note, the battery life varies considerably by setting: Dreame claims up to 90 minutes in Eco mode, but Turbo lasts just six minutes, so save that setting for tough jobs. Overall, it's a great cordless vacuum, now with £80 off.

This outstanding robot vacuum excels at extracting dust from carpet – it actually put in the best performance on short-pile carpet we've seen so far at the Institute. The powerful suction, anti-tangle brush and high-speed motor are super impressive, while the side brush helps it reach into tricky corners.

The slim profile allows it to reach under low furniture, while the extendable mop arm is able to wipe up spills even from tight spaces. In our mop tests, it cleaned most spills in the single pass, but dried-on stains needed more work. An outstanding pick for carpeted homes.

This high-tech robot vacuum can raise itself to climb over thresholds that would trip up many others. It boasts powerful suction power, too, picking up over 99% of debris put down in our test room and gobbling up larger crumbs and cereal.

The two rotating mop pads did an excellent job on common stains, making light work of mud, tea and coffee and leaving just a tiny amount of ketchup residue behind. It's quite large and bulky, so make sure you have space for the docking station, but we'd jump at the chance to get over 30% off this brilliant bot.

We love how easy this robot vacuum is to set up – it connects seamlessly to the app and it's simple to see your maps and no-go zones. It managed to collect 94% of the dirt we laid down in our test room, scoring highly for dust pick-up and working quickly, too.

It mops well, too, cleaning our stains successfully after automatically returning to dirty patches. The dust bin is also easy to remove, empty and refit. Overall, a great buy with this premium package.

This clever Eufy robot vacuum is an excellent mopper – it has clean and dirty water tanks inside the robot, so it can keep the mop refreshed as it goes. It's a methodical, effective vacuum, lifting dust and dirt well across different flooring types. It had no trouble sucking up pet hair, either.

We like the multi-tasking docking station which empties, refills and recharges the vacuum, giving you a hands-free experience. It's also on the tall side, which means you don't have to get right down on the floor to acess the controls. A great all-rounder.

This well-priced robot vacuum was a great performer in our crumb tests, picking up both large biscuit pieces and Rice Krispies. It also mapped our test room smoothly, navigated around furniture and respected no-go zones. In our mopping tests, it cleared fresh ketchup, mud, tea and coffee in one cleaning cycle – dried ketchup just needed a few more passes.

It’s easy to set up scheduled cleans and control it via the app, and the dock washes its mop pads with heated water. Pet owners should note it tended to push clumps of hair around rather than pick them up, but finer hairs didn’t tangle around the rubber-bladed roller. A great value buy at nearly £200 off!

This sleek robot vacuum is a savvy pick for pet owners – it managed to suck up large clumps and fine strands of pet hair in our tests with no issue. We love the look of the docking station, which has a high-quality feel while being relatively compact.

It's a strong performer on carpet, excelling at picking up dust and large debris, just note that on hard floors it sometimes flicks dust around rather than vacuuming it up. It's a great mopper though, with the robot able to go over messes, return to the dock to empty its dirty water and set out again for finish the job. A great buy at less than half price.

It's excellent at vacuuming up dust from hard flooring (though it was less consistent on carpet), and its app made it easy to set up maps, schedules and no-go zones.

Mopping was a highlight, too – it removed fresh ketchup, mud, tea and coffee from laminate, leaving the floor shiny and streak-free. The docking station is bulky, but it automatically empties the robot and washes and dries its mop pads. Very clever. A fantastic, high-tech buy at over £300 off.

This budget robot vacuum is surprisingly powerful – and at just over £150 in the sale, it's an affordable way to hand over day-to-day vacuuming. It collected 97.5% of debris during our whole-room test, and did particularly well with biscuit crumbs and cereal on carpet.

The app is easy to set up and the bagless dock also empties the robot for you. The mop is quite basic without rotating pads or carpet lift, so you’ll need to set no-go zones to keep it off rugs. But for a budget robot vacuum with self-emptying, it's amazing value.

This Samsung model scored highly across dust and crumb pick-up and even mopped our floors effectively in one sweep. It lifted pet hair well and did a great job at edge cleaning, too – something lots of robots struggle with.

The docking station is on the bulky side, so you'll to make sure you have space for it. It's worth it though, as it automatically empties the bin, refills the water tank and even sanitises the mop heads with steam – all without you needing to lift a finger.
