If you’ve been waiting to upgrade your mattress, now's the time to do it. This 4th of July weekend, I'm seeing steep discounts on some of our favorite mattresses—including one currently over 40% off—that rival Black Friday sales. Still, a big discount doesn't always mean it's a great mattress. After testing more than 250 mattresses, these are the ones I'd actually spend my own money on.
"While mattress companies offer discounts and sales throughout the year, a holiday weekend is when you'll see the most consistent and competitive offers across brands," says Lexie Sachs, executive director at the GH Institute.
As one of the experts in Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles Lab, I teamed up with our shopping editors, who track deals year-round, to find the best prices on our top-tested mattresses. While some brands have increased prices since earlier this year, these are the deals we still think are worth shopping.

Saatva Memorial Day Sale
The deal: Good Housekeeping readers can take 20% off their Saatva mattress orders (with a minimum $1,000 purchase) by shopping through our exclusive links. This deal is even bigger than Saatva's general sale (up to $625 off with the purchase of a bed frame).
Why we love it: Saatva's Classic Mattress has consistency excelled in our tests for over a decade with impressive support, durability, and breathability. It has an innerspring design, with two layers of coils for extra airflow and a pillowy Euro top for a touch of luxury. "I love how comfortable this mattress is," shared one tester. "It keeps us at the right temperature, especially not too hot."
Saatva provides complimentary white-glove delivery and a 365-night trial (with a $99 pickup fee if you return it). I'd also recommend the brand's latex hybrid for its ergonomic design, or the Solaire for if you and your partner disagree on firmness; you can adjust the each side to your preference.

Bear Memorial Day Sale
Bear Elite Hybrid Mattress
The deal: Good Housekeeping readers can take 42% off our favorite hybrid mattress, the Bear Elite Hybrid, with our exclusive code GH42 and 40% off all other mattresses with code GH40 until July 6th.
Why we love it: All of our testers unanimously agreed that they slept better on the Bear Elite Hybrid and praised its support. It uses a zoned layout, which means there's extra give or support in key areas to promote spinal alignment. It's especially great for those with back pain: "I suffer from back pain and with this mattress, I wake up pain-free," one GH tester said.
This is also the bed that Sachs personally sleeps on at home, after having tested every kind of mattress. When she first tested it, she slept through her alarm for the first time in years during the first month.

Nolah Memorial Day Sale
The deal: Good Housekeeping readers can take an extra $100 off mattress purchases with code GH100, which you can stack with their 35% discount through July 6th.
Why we love it: In our evaluations, testers and survey respondents with conditions like sciatic and scoliosis gave the Nolah Original top scores for pressure relief. We like that the mattress has an approachable medium feel—which is in line with what medical professionals recommend for back pain—and uses zoned foam. This means it's firmer in the lumbar region, which is designed to maintain a neutral spinal alignment as you sleep.

Avocado Memorial Day Sale
The deal: Right now, customers can take up to 15% off all of Avocado's mattresses, including our favorite organic mattress, the Avocado Green Mattress.
Why we love it: If you prefer to shop organic, Avocado's the gold standard. It's certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS), which means the brand adheres to strict manufacturing standards.
The Green Mattress uses latex, which stands out for its durability and support. It excels at evenly distributing your body weight without sinking in. This means that while there's some give, it won't sink nearly as much under your weight and has a dense, springy feel.

Tempur-Pedic July 4th Sale
The deal: Tempur-Pedic is offering $500 off two mattresses from their TEMPUR-Breeze collection (the ProBreeze and LuxeBreeze models).
Why we love it: Tempur-Pedic's LuxeBreeze is one of our favorite cooling mattresses, and the brand has testing data to prove that it keeps you up to 10 degrees cooler at night. While it runs a bit firm, testers swore by its cooling capabilities. One said, "I’m not overheating throughout the night as often (if ever), which used to happen pretty frequently [on my old mattress]."
You can also opt for the ProBreeze instead. Per the brand, it helps keep you five degrees cooler at night.

Helix Memorial Day Sale
Helix Dusk Luxe
The deal: Helix is offering up to 30% off its mattresses, including 25% off Luxe mattresses, like the Helix Dusk Luxe, with code LUXE25 and 30% off Elite mattresses with code ELITE30.
Why we love it: Helix is consistent when it comes to sales, so you can trust that you're getting a solid deal during any major shopping holiday. In our tests, couples with different firmness preferences and combination sleepers praised the Helix Dusk Luxe for its responsive yet pressure-relieving feel. One tester shared, "It feels plush but doesn't feel like it's swallowing me up, and there's just enough bounce that allows me to shift and turn over in the night."
If you're in search of a luxurious mattress, the Midnight Elite is a two-time GH Bedding Award winner for its quality design. One tester said, "I have never been as happy with a mattress as I am with this one."

Silk & Snow Memorial Day Sale
The deal: You can save $200 on the S&S Organic Mattress and receive a free sleep bundle, including sheets, pillows and a mattress protector.
Why we love it: This is our pick for the best value organic mattress. It holds the same organic certifications (GOTS and GOLS) you'll see in mattresses twice the price. While it's often on sale, I rarely see it this discounted: Usually it's around $950 for a Queen during most shopping holidays, but you can snag it for $900 with a free bedding bundle.
This model comes in three firmness levels and uses responsive latex over airy coils. One tester said, "The mattress is firm and yet still has a good amount of bounce and give to it when you move around." Another shared that it "made two picky mattress testers happy!"

Is July 4th a good time to score major deals on mattresses this year?
We consistently track prices and analyze deals, and holiday weekends are the most consistent times to find sales. In my experience, online mattress brands offer fairly consistent discounts year-round, though some have recently increased their prices. Still, the deals are comparable to Memorial Day and Black Friday, and if you're in need of a mattress, I'd buy now instead of waiting two months for Labor Day.
