WHO IT'S BEST FOR: Those who prefer the look of sheer black tights but want to stay warm
WHY WE LOVE IT: Sheer black tights can look great with a mini dress or add a bit of warmth on an autumn day, but they're not the most practical for the winter months. That's why we're big fans of this sheer-looking pair from Noosh that's actually lined with soft fleece on the interior to keep you warm. There are similar pairs on Amazon, but we especially love this pair because it comes in five different shades to match your skin tone to make the tights look realistically sheer.
Home & Apparel Reviews Analyst Amanda Constantine said she often chooses skirts over pants for her work outfits, even in the winter, which can make for a rather cold commute to the office. "These fleece-lined tights were a welcome addition to my winter wardrobe! The fleece was so soft and warm, and didn't leave behind unwanted fuzzies when I pulled them down," she shared. Constantine always wears fashion-forward outfits in the office, and she even layered cobalt blue tights over this pair to add a pop of color with extra insulation.
Constantine is 6 feet tall, but she said the tights didn't sag or slide down during the day. Instead, the size Medium stayed perfectly in place on her. While the waistband was comfy, she did find the toe seam to be a bit uncomfortable. "I needed to readjust the foot of the tights a few times during the day," Constantine noted.

WHO IT'S BEST FOR: Anyone on a budget or in need of larger sizes
WHY WE LOVE IT: Available in four opaque shades, these fleece-lined tights are only $15 (when not on sale) but offer great warmth and are comfortable to wear. Tons of online reviewers said these tights were tall-girl friendly, and one 5'11 customer on Amazon wrote, "These tights fit and did not roll down or sag at the crotch." She also called the tights "comfortable, thick, and warm," but noted that they are not as thick as she thought they'd be for a pair of fleece-lined tights. However, when compared to regular tights, they're a bit thicker and warmer. One of our consumer testers called them "thick but still fairly flattering."
This was one of the pairs we tested. Our consumer testers gave these tights high marks for comfort, with many appreciating the warmth they offered. When we washed these tights multiple times for our laundering evaluations in the Textiles Lab, this pair barely shrank. We also tested this pair for strength, and the fabric snagged slightly easier than others, but most of our consumer testers did not snag or tear these tights in day-to-day wear.

WHO IT'S BEST FOR: Shoppers on a time crunch who need warm tights ASAP
WHY WE LOVE IT: More times than I'd like to admit, I have forgotten an important component to an outfit days before an event, but Amazon has always got my back. WHO IT'S BEST FOR: Someone who wants a warm, non-bulky layer that aren't fleece-lined
WHY WE LOVE IT: Okay, hear me out. I know these aren't fleece-lined, but they deserve a mention. Uniqlo's Heattech collection includes all sorts of clothing, like shirts, leggings, and tights that are “innovative thermal clothing technology for warmth without the bulk," according to Uniqlo's website. These tights are designed to be worn in temperatures between 41°F to 68°F, so they're not the best for under mini skirts on days below 40°F. However, the thin yet insulating design makes them great for layering under a pair of pants on extra-cold winter days.
Uniqlo also uses special yarn that it says "neutralizes and deodorizes odors," which can be beneficial if you get a bit sweaty wearing them.
If you're looking for a different finish or more compression, you may prefer the Heattech Uniqlo Leg Shaper Tights. Additionally, the brand offers Heattech Ultra Warm Leggings for temperatures between -4°F and 50°F, which are entirely opaque.
