Few people do fall fashion quite like Kate Middleton. From tartan coats to chic penny loafers, the Princess of Wales has a knack for making classic fall pieces feel fresh.
On a recent visit to Cornwall, Kate posed for new portraits and promoted her latest work, which examines how nature can support young children's development. She chose a beautiful mountain backdrop and the perfect fall ensemble to match.
The highlight for me was Kate’s cozy knit sweater. After months of summer dresses and lightweight layers, I'm more than ready to see Fair Isle again. Kate’s in particular is the Fair Isle Relaxed Sweater from U.K. fashion brand ME + EM—but unfortunately, it’s completely sold out in all sizes.
Luckily, Fair Isle isn’t hard to come by. I found a few under-$50 options on Amazon, along with pieces from our favorite brands like Boden, Barbour, and Alex Mill.
As for styling the pattern, Fair Isle stands as a statement on its own, so it’s OK to keep everything else understated. We love how Kate paired hers with a Barbour wax trench coat, a ruffled high-neck top, and dark-wash jeans.
This certainly isn’t the first time the Princess of Wales wore Fair Isle. We last spotted her in the pattern earlier this year, when she paid a royal visit to Scotland. We also found a photo of Kate wearing a pink style in 2021, over a high-neck white long-sleeve.
