Getting enough protein can be tough when you're balancing work, workouts, and everyday life. To help you find the best options, I evaluated more than 50 meal delivery services as director of the Good Housekeeping Institute Nutrition & Fitness Lab, considering taste, ingredient quality, nutrition, convenience, and value. I also gathered feedback from more than 300 home cooks on preparation, portion sizes, and overall satisfaction.
Our top picks:
- Best overall: Factor
- Best for weight loss: Trifecta
- Best premium: Methodology
- Best meal kit: Green Chef
The meal delivery services below stood out for offering flavorful, satisfying meals with at least 20 to 30 grams of protein per serving, making it easier to support your nutrition goals without spending hours in the kitchen.
Pros
High Protein plan available
Convenient meals are fully prepared
Very large selection of weekly rotating dishes
Cons
Meals can be high in saturated fat
HOW IT WORKS: I first tried Factor after a recommendation from a friend at the gym, and it ended up becoming one of the few meal delivery services I actually stuck with long term. The biggest draw was how easy it made it to hit my protein goals without sacrificing convenience or flavor. Every meal arrives fresh and fully prepared, so all you have to do is heat it and eat.
Chefs and registered dietitians design Factor’s menu, which balances comfort food with nutrition-focused eating. While many meals are naturally high in protein, the High Protein plan guarantees at least 30 grams per serving, making it a strong choice for fitness, recovery, or staying satisfied longer. Other plans include Keto, Low Carb, Calorie Smart, Fiber Filled, GLP-1 Support, and Flexitarian, with six to 18 meals available per week. You can also add smoothies, juices, snacks, and desserts for extra convenience.
WHY WE LIKE IT: During testing, Factor stood out for both convenience and flavor. Meals reheated well, portions were satisfying, and there was more variety than we found with many competing prepared meal services. Standout dishes included the Charred Corn & Shredded Chicken Cavatappi, Ginger Teriyaki Salmon, and Thai-Style Peanut Chicken Bowl.
Everything reheated surprisingly well, too. One tester shared, “Microwaving didn’t compromise the texture or taste—everything heated nicely,” and I completely agreed, even with the fish dishes. I also liked being able to add protein smoothies and juices to make meal planning feel even more streamlined during busy weeks.
TAKE NOTE: Some meals, particularly keto options, can be higher in sodium and saturated fat than other services. Those following vegan or dairy-free diets may also find fewer options available.

Pros
All plans cater to high-protein meals
Breakfasts and meal-prep proteins also available
Dishes average between 350 and 550 calories
Cons
Not as flavorful as other services
HOW IT WORKS: You may recognize Trifecta from Netflix’s You Are What You Eat, but I first heard about it through friends in the CrossFit world who swore by it for staying consistent with their nutrition goals. The service is clearly built for performance-minded eaters, offering prepared meals tailored to different eating plans designed around specific protein, carbohydrate, and calorie goals.
One of Trifecta’s biggest strengths is its high-protein, calorie-conscious approach. All of the plans are designed to be relatively low-calorie, high-protein, and moderate-to-low-carb to assist with healthy weight loss, with most meals averaging 350 to 500 calories and delivering 20 to 40 grams of protein per dish. You can choose your meals each week or let Trifecta customize them based on your preferences. Meals arrive fully cooked and vacuum-sealed, staying fresh for up to 10 days in the fridge or months in the freezer. Trifecta also offers add-ons like breakfasts, snacks, and meal-prep proteins such as steak, chicken, and grass-fed burgers.
WHY WE LIKE IT: Trifecta makes it easy to stay on track with nutrition goals, even during busy weeks. Meals are portioned with macros in mind, taking the guesswork out of high-protein eating. Testers praised the convenience, balanced ingredients, and variety of keto and paleo options, while the add-on proteins added extra flexibility for meal prep.
TAKE NOTE: While nutritious and convenient, Trifecta’s meals weren’t the most flavorful we tried, and some reheated better than others. The add-on proteins held up particularly well. There’s also a $99 minimum order requirement. Still, for macro-conscious eaters looking for a high-protein, low-effort option, Trifecta delivers.

Pros
All meals range from 30–50 grams of protein
Dishes are also high in fiber
Tasty, nutritious, and filling meals
Everything comes in reusable bowls and jars
Cons
Nearly double the price of other services per serving
HOW IT WORKS: Methodology is definitely more of a splurge compared to your average prepared meal service, but it also feels noticeably more elevated. The brand focuses on health-conscious meals made without gluten, dairy, or refined sugar, using sustainably sourced proteins and high-quality ingredients throughout.
The meals are especially impressive from a nutritional standpoint, with the Signature Plan offering 30 to 50 grams of protein per meal. Everything arrives fully prepared and ready to heat in either the microwave or on the stovetop. Plus, the bowls and jars that the meals come in are reusable. You can choose standard or large portions, order meals for one to four days per week, and opt for a subscription or one-time delivery. There’s also flexibility to include breakfasts or skip them entirely.
WHY WE LIKE IT: The feature I appreciated most was how fresh and satisfying the meals felt while still being very nutrition-forward. The ingredients tasted high quality, the portions were genuinely filling, and everything had a cleaner, more homemade feel thanks to the use of avocado and olive oil instead of heavier processed ingredients.
I also liked that the meals provide 25 grams or more of fiber per day in addition to the substantial protein content, which helped make them even more satisfying overall. Testers consistently commented that the meals were balanced and enjoyable. One tester shared, “I loved the presentation. The meals were fresh and even filled up my husband.” And it’s worth noting that Stanford Medicine researchers used Methodology meals in a clinical study examining Mediterranean and keto diets.
TAKE NOTE: Methodology is significantly more expensive than many other prepared meal services, reflecting its premium ingredients and presentation. The menu also offers limited customization, which may be a drawback for those with extensive allergies or highly specific dietary needs.

Pros
USDA-certified organic company
Dedicated High Protein plan
Flavorful meals with solid portions
Neatly organized meal kit
Cons
Some recipes can be a bit complex to prepare
HOW IT WORKS: Green Chef earns high marks for its ingredient quality, using certified organic produce and sustainably sourced ingredients across plans like Mediterranean, Carb Smart, High Protein, Calorie Smart, Plant-Based, Quick & Easy, Gluten-Free, and Functional Nutrition.
The High Protein plan offers meals with 30 grams of protein or more per serving, though weekly options are somewhat limited. Still, the recipes feel more elevated than many meal kits, with dishes like Creamy Curried Chicken Salad Sandwiches, Sriracha Tamari Beef Bowls, and Caribbean-Spiced Tilapia.
WHY WE LIKE IT: The ingredients arrive neatly organized and pre-portioned, and the recipes are colorful, flavorful, and genuinely satisfying. I was especially impressed by how fresh everything tasted compared to many other meal kits. Testers agreed, with one sharing, “I was so impressed with all the portions and the freshness of the products. Every meal was super easy to prepare,” while another noted, “The food tasted fresher than other meal kits I’ve tried.”
The high-protein recipes were especially strong because they felt varied and flavorful rather than repetitive. The app also makes it easy to follow recipes and manage your subscription.
TAKE NOTE: Some recipes require multiple pans or bowls, which can make cleanup more involved. A few instructions are detailed, but step-by-step photos help make the process easy to follow.

| Cost | $11.99–$13.99 per serving + $9.99 shipping fee. |

Pros
Variety of high-protein meal plans with curated macros
Convenient, fully prepared meals
High-protein weight loss plan also available
Cons
Not suited for vegans and vegetarians
HOW IT WORKS: Fuel Meals is built for people who want high-protein meals without having to spend hours meal prepping each week. The service specializes in fully prepared, ready-to-heat meals centered on meat, poultry, and seafood, making it especially appealing to athletes, gym-goers, and anyone looking to increase their protein intake. You can order seven to 20 meals per delivery, and choose from four plans with curated macros:
- Best Sellers: 40% protein, 30% fat, 30% carbs
- Performance: 35% protein, 25% fat, 40% carbs
- Weight Loss: 50% protein, 25% fat, 25% carbs
- Muscle Gain: 35% protein, 20% fat, 45% carbs
WHY WE LIKE IT: I liked Fuel Meals most for its generous portions and convenience. The meals are built around a protein-first approach, with larger meat servings than many competing services. The General Tso’s Turkey Meatballs were a particular highlight, offering great flavor and reheating well. Overall, it’s a practical choice for anyone looking to hit high-protein goals with minimal effort.
TAKE NOTE: Because Fuel Meals focuses heavily on meat and seafood, it’s not ideal for vegetarians or plant-based eaters. Some dishes were also lighter on vegetables, and flavor and texture varied across the menu. Reheating results were mixed, though the simpler protein-focused meals held up best. Still, for convenient, high-protein meals with generous portions, Fuel Meals gets the job done.

Pros
Meals are free from artificial ingredients and added sugars
Curated high protein menu filter
Fully prepared and convenient
Cons
Menu is limited for vegetarians and vegans
HOW IT WORKS: Eat Clean Bro specializes in fresh, fully prepared meals made with high-quality ingredients and no artificial preservatives, ingredients, or added sugars. Most entrees provide more than 30 grams of protein per serving, and the menu makes it easy to filter for high-protein options. While the selection is largely meat-based, a few vegetarian meals are available each week.
If you live in the Northeast, you may be eligible for local hand delivery, which was one of my favorite parts of testing the service. My meals arrived in an insulated bag delivered directly by one of the company’s drivers, and I received text updates beforehand so I knew exactly when to expect them. The company also has pickup locations in New Jersey if you prefer to grab meals in person. For everyone else, Eat Clean Bro ships nationwide.
WHY WE LIKE IT: What impressed me most was how satisfying the meals were. Protein portions were generous, the ingredients tasted fresh and high-quality, and everything arrived neatly packaged. Testers also praised the more personalized delivery experience, and the menu made it easy to prioritize protein without overthinking meal choices. “The meals were super filling and tasted great,” one tester said.
TAKE NOTE: The menu is somewhat limited for vegetarians since most meals center around meat or seafood, so plant-based eaters may not find as much variety here. Still, if your priority is fresh, protein-packed meals with quality ingredients and minimal prep, Eat Clean Bro does a great job delivering on convenience and consistency.

How we test meal delivery services

The Good Housekeeping Institute Nutrition Lab has evaluated over 50 meal delivery services to identify the best options for quality, nutrition, flavor, and overall value.
To identify the best high-protein meal delivery services, we reviewed each brand's menu offerings and nutrition information, prioritizing services that make it easy to find meals containing 20 to 30 grams of protein or more per serving. We also looked for dedicated high-protein plans or clearly labeled options, transparent nutrition information, and menus developed with input from registered dietitians or other nutrition experts. We also sought out services that source quality proteins and fresh produce while offering meals that are satisfying, nutritionally balanced, and flavorful.
In addition to expert evaluations, we incorporated feedback from hundreds of at-home testers who assessed factors such as portion sizes, flavor, freshness, and overall satisfaction. While taste preferences vary, we prioritized services that consistently performed well across these measures.
What to look for in a high-protein meal delivery service

The services on this list all offer high-protein meal plans or clearly labeled protein-rich options, making it easy to find meals that fit your goals. Here are a few other factors to consider before choosing a service:
✔️ Protein amount: Look for meals with at least 20 to 30 grams of protein per serving to help support fullness, muscle recovery, and overall nutrition goals. It’s important to look beyond protein and consider calories, fiber, and the overall macronutrient balance, too.
✔️ Meal style: Some services provide meal kits with ingredients and recipes to cook at home, while others offer fully prepared meals that are ready to heat and eat. Choose the option that best fits your schedule and cooking preferences.
✔️ Taste and variety: A good service should offer plenty of flavorful options so you don’t get bored eating the same meals every week.
✔️ Quality ingredients: We recommend looking for services that prioritize quality proteins, fresh produce, and balanced meals. Services that clearly list nutrition facts and ingredients can make it easier to choose meals that align with your needs and preferences.
✔️ Budget: Meal delivery services are often more convenient than grocery shopping and meal prep, but costs can vary widely. Compare the price per serving, shipping fees, and any introductory discounts.
✔️ Serving sizes: Some services are designed for single servings, while others are better for couples or families. Make sure portion sizes work for your household and appetite.
✔️ Delivery availability: Check that the service ships to your area and review shipping costs and delivery schedules before ordering.
✔️ Sustainability: Many meal delivery brands are improving their packaging with recyclable or eco-conscious materials, so consider whether sustainability is important to you.
Are high-protein meal delivery services worth it?

For anyone looking to increase their protein intake without spending hours meal prepping, high-protein meal delivery services can offer a convenient solution. Fully prepared meals are especially helpful for busy schedules, cutting down on grocery shopping, cooking, and cleanup while still making it easier to stay on track with nutrition goals. Many services also feature meals developed with input from registered dietitians or nutrition experts, helping ensure dishes are balanced as well as protein-packed.
However, convenience often comes at a higher price than cooking at home, and many high-protein menus rely heavily on animal-based proteins. Vegan and vegetarian options may therefore be more limited depending on the service.
What are the best high-protein foods?

There are many ways to increase your protein intake. Protein is made up of amino acids, which play an important role in building and repairing muscle, supporting immune function, and helping you stay full and satisfied.
Some protein sources are considered “complete proteins,” meaning they contain all nine essential amino acids the body cannot produce on its own and must get from food. Complete proteins are most commonly found in animal-based foods, though a few plant-based options qualify as well. Other protein sources, often plant-based, may be lower in one or more essential amino acids but can still be part of a healthy, balanced diet.
Examples of complete protein foods include:
- Lean meats: Beef, pork tenderloin
- Poultry: Chicken, turkey
- Seafood: Fish, shrimp, salmon, tuna
- Eggs
- Dairy products: Milk, yogurt, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese
- Soy-based proteins: Tofu, tempeh, edamame
- Quinoa
- Buckwheat
- Pistachios
