I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again: One of my favorite weekend activities is thrift shopping. In New York City, there are countless amounts of antique stores packed to the brim with timeless treasures. I’m typically drawn to the vintage coffee mugs, but a rustic teapot will catch my eye every now and then. If I saw this teapot-shaped birdhouse during a Sunday run, it would absolutely stop me in my tracks.
As of late, most of the birdhouses I’ve seen on the market are shaped as, well… houses. Sure, I’ll come across a unique design here and there (check out this retro airstream)—but until now, I haven’t seen one shaped like a teapot. This particular birdhouse from Amazon looks like a family heirloom, or even something left behind from the tea party from Alice in Wonderland.
The metal, antique-inspired home is painted like an old vintage find—and apparently, the coating is both resistant to rust and waterproof. Throughout the teacup structure, you’ll find dainty floral designs that add to its charm.
In the front of the birdhouse, you’ll see a small hole where birds can enter and exit—but in the back, you’ll find a hinged door that you can access whenever the unit needs to be cleaned or maintained. The top of the teacup can be attached to a chain and hook for easy hanging (the chain itself is about 16 inches long, per the brand).
One customer who added the birdhouse to their yard wrote, “This is quite a lovely piece.” They also called it “extremely high-quality” and said it “will look fantastic in your garden on a tree or indoors.”
If you like the teapot design but would rather have a colorful birdhouse in your yard, you can opt for this one, which looks like a teapot-shaped cottage complete with a wooden door and a flower-petal roof.
Regardless, you can’t go wrong—and I’m sure your birds will agree!
