My sneaker collection is becoming embarrassingly large, but I’m still itching to shop these deals for October Prime Day (happening Oct. 6–7). I found discounts on running shoes, slip-on shoes for quick errands, and casual sneakers for daily wear. I even found a pair of New Balance sneakers marked down by 53% (just keep in mind prices and color options will vary depending on what size you choose).

Can’t-miss Prime Day deals

I've tried dozens of sneakers as a half marathon and marathon runner, while our footwear pros in the Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles Lab have evaluated more than 70 styles in recent tests. We've enlisted over 250 consumer testers (who collectively logged over 1,000 hours of testing). Some of those top-performing sneakers are on sale for Prime Day, along with other stylish popular picks from brands we love.

608 V5

Pros

  • Chunky, trendy design
  • Cushioned sole
  • Heel pad to absorb impact

Cons

  • Limited inventory with sizes and colors

Chunky sneakers are trendy—and for good reason: They add height with their thick, cushioned soles that are comfortable to walk and stand in. The 608 V5s have a foam midsole and a heel pad that’s designed to absorb impact as your foot strikes the ground.

These sneakers come in white or black, but you can choose between blue, purple, or pink detailing for the white sneakers, which adds a subtle pop of color; the neutral sneakers still match practically any outfit (although I wish there were an entirely white option).

Pros

  • Slip-on design makes it easy to put on and take off shoes
  • Wide toe box, arch support, and cushioned insole for added comfort
  • Sleek style matches any outfit

Cons

  • Only available in one color

Our footwear pros have been impressed with Kizik's shoes in testing, and right now the brand's casual Sydney slip-on sneaker is an impressive 50% off for Prime Day.

Whether you have dexterity issues, have trouble bending down, or just want sneakers you can quickly take on and off, these slip-ons are a great option. They only come in white, but they practically match any outfit, and they have a cushioned insole, wide toe box, and an arch for support, so you can go on a short walk or commute to work in comfort.

VL Court 3.0

Pros

  • Can be styled up or down
  • Comfortable
  • Neutral colorways match many outfits

Cons

  • Not the best for rainy weather

Similar to the Samba OG Shoes, these low-profile, sleek sneakers feature Adidas’ iconic three stripes and suede detailing at the heel and toes. They’re incredibly similar, but only this option is on sale for Prime Day.

They pair well with any outfit, whether you’re wearing trousers and a sweater to the office, jeans and a tee on the weekend, or a dress to a backyard party. Note that these are more for fashion and don’t have great traction, so leave them at home on wet, rainy days.

Pros

  • Great traction to prevent slipping
  • Stylish sneaker that can handle hiking
  • Tons of colors

Cons

  • Not waterproof

These Keen sneakers may be stylish, but they can handle trails and rugged terrain thanks to their high-traction rubber soles. They’re the only sneakers you need on an outdoorsy trip thanks to their stylish design and comfort.

Designed to fit the natural shape of your foot with tons of room for your toes, you’ll feel comfortable on a short walk through the woods or a long hike in rocky terrain. I wore my own pair in Utah and felt comfortable hiking over 7 miles each day. These shoes also have a removable Luftcell footbed for extra arch support (so you can take it out if it’s not your vibe). I just wish these shoes were waterproof so I could use them on mud trails.

Pros

  • Tons of colorways
  • Offered in small sizes
  • EVA Foam in the midsole for added cushioning

Cons

  • Not the most breathable

Many of our editors love New Balance sneakers for their comfort and designs (in fact, many of us wear the brand’s sneakers to the office). The suede exterior on this pair elevates an otherwise athletic sneaker, and the EVA foam in the midsole cushions each step. Keep in mind that suede is stylish, but not the most breathable or the best in the rain.

They’re even offered in as small a size as a four, which can be hard to come by. Lastly, I especially love that these sneakers come in over 30 colors.

Club C Extra Platform Sneakers

Pros

  • Stylish appearance
  • Platform style adds height without sacrificing comfort
  • Molds to your feet for a perfect fit

Cons

  • Limited color options

Add some height with these platform sneakers that are super comfy. We love that these shoes look more stylish and go well with casual outfits than traditional walking sneakers, but are still comfortable thanks to the foam midsole. We wish they were available in more colors, but the neutral cream and white options make it a great closet staple.

We love also the non-platform version of this stylish off-white sneaker, which is also on sale at 15% off. Seymour said the upper leather of Club C sneakers "molds to your feet and has a stylish look, while the terry lining feels soft and plush.”

Pros

  • Excellent mobility and cushioning
  • Designed with a woman's foot shape in mind
  • Roomy toe box
  • Tons of width options

Cons

  • Not the most durable option

Designed specifically for women's feet, these Ryka shoes feature a roomy toe box and a narrower heel for a comfortable fit. Our footwear experts were impressed with the shoes’ cushioning.

One of our testers said she felt like she was "walking on clouds," and another noted "how lightweight and breathable" they were. While our pros say they’re not the most durable of our top picks, they’re a solid choice for walking and running.

Fresh Foam X 1080 V13

Pros

  • Spacious toe box
  • Tons of width options
  • Reactive, bouncy foam

Cons

  • Some testers found them clunky

Featuring a roomy toe box, flexible upper, and various widths, this sneaker is a popular choice for many walkers and runners. They're built with a springy, reactive foam that's super cushioned, which is great for repetitive motions like running.

Many testers gave this sneaker high ratings for comfort, fit, and cushioning, although some testers found the shoe a bit clunky. "I find myself reaching for this pair over all of my other running and walking shoes whenever I leave my home," one tester shared.

Pros

Cons

  • Stiffer compared to competitor models

Our testers loved the previous iteration of this shoe for walking and running, with one even reporting that it helped improve their posture. It provides stability and support, and the traction on the high-abrasion rubber sole offers excellent grip on the ground. Our pros also loved the knitted upper that allows for better airflow and breathability.
