The Princess of Wales may have just inspired my next bag purchase for the season. On a recent volunteer trip, Kate Middleton looked classy in a gray trench coat, polished pussy-bow blouse, and gorgeous pearl hoop earrings. But she also wore the perfect fall accessory that I might have missed at first glance: a structured, burgundy handbag.
It’s the Leather Day Cross-Body Bag from British luxury brand Smythson. It has an elegant top handle and a removable strap, so you can carry it by hand or wear it crossbody. Kate’s purse was the perfect pop of color to an otherwise muted outfit, and I love that the hue is still neutral enough to wear with most color palettes. The leather is soft and slightly slouchy, but the structured frame helps it stand upright.
Unfortunately, the exact Smythson bag is currently out of stock. But of course, I had to dig and see if I could find something similar. Luckily, with Prime Big Deal Days on October 6 and 7, I found a bunch of lookalikes on Amazon that don’t break the bank (most are on sale).
Most of the bags I found have top handles and a structured shape, but I included a few different silhouettes to suit your style. One thing’s for sure: Burgundy is the color of the season—and now I’m tempted to find a pair of burgundy flats to match!
