Sheryl Lee Ralph is switching gears for an exciting new project.
Ahead of the Abbott Elementary season 6 premiere on October 7 on ABC, Sheryl surprised fans on Instagram by revealing that she wrote a memoir. You Better Love What You See: Living With Joy, Confidence, and Unapologetic Self-Worth comes out on April 6, 2027, and fans can already pre-order it.
“I am so excited to announce my book YOU BETTER LOVE WHAT YOU SEE is coming to bookstores April 6!” she captioned a photo of the cover on September 14. “This book is a guide for anyone who wonders if they’re enough, who wants to lead with love and heal themselves, or who still battles with self-doubt. You can pre-order your copy now at the link in my bio!”
Fans were immediately intrigued.
“I need a copy!!! This is amazing 😍😍,” one person wrote in the comments. “I need mine! Can't wait to read what my auntie in my head has to say,” another said. “Yes, ma’am. I’m definitely getting this book when it comes out,” a different follower added.
The book title is inspired by Sheryl’s viral acceptance speech from the 2023 Critics Choice Awards, and People reports that it will be a “moving guide for anyone who wonders if they’re enough.” Sheryl also shares personal stories from both her professional and personal life.
“In recent years, I’ve seen how deeply people are searching for inspiration and a reminder of their own worth,” she told the outlet. “In conversations with loved ones and fans, I’ve heard how my words, ‘People don’t have to like you … They don’t even have to respect you. But when you look in the mirror, you better love what you see!’ have resonated with people around the world.”
“Reflecting on the incredible wisdom imparted to me throughout my life, I knew I had more to share,” she added. “That realization led me to write this book.”
We’ll be sure to pick up a copy!
