Gilmore Girls alum Scott Patterson released a new cookbook called Dishes from the Diner: Classic All-Day Recipes.

Fans had a lot to say about the actor’s latest career venture.

Scott said the cookbook ties back to Gilmore Girls and his character, Luke Danes.

Scott Patterson is channeling the character that made him famous.

On September 14, the Gilmore Girls alum surprised fans with a fun new career venture. On Instagram, Scott announced that he’d written a cookbook called Dishes from the Diner: Classic All-Day Recipes. The book debuted on September 8, 2026, available at most retailers.

“Nostalgic American dinner fare,” the image read, along with a snapshot of the cookbook cover. “Over 90 hearty and heartwarming recipes that will leave you satisfied—just like any good diner.”

What’s more, Scott had a message for fans in the caption.

“You've asked for it, now it's here!” he wrote. “All your diner favorites! Grab your copy and get cooking! 📖🍽☕ Just remember, no cell phones!”

Fans were so excited to see this new venture from Scott.

“Just got mine yesterday! Looking forward to becoming my own at-home diner cook,” one person wrote in the comments. “Does it come with a 🧢 and a plaid shirt ?? 😂,” another asked, referencing his character Luke Danes’ iconic look on Gilmore Girls. “Now if I can get Luke to come over and cook,” a different follower joked.

Throughout Dishes from a Diner, Scott weaves recipes with personal stories from both his childhood and his days on the set of Gilmore Girls. The book’s official site also noted that his southern New Jersey roots shaped it, as “no matter the time, day or night, a booth and a good meal were always waiting.”

“I’ve always been a foodie,” he told People about the book. “I love diner food. I think it is the very definition of comfort food, and being on a show that is the very definition of a comfort show, I think it was just a natural progression and a perfect match.”
