On October 20, the former Food Network star revealed that her family was mourning the loss of their cat, Bella. Sharing photos of Bella with her daughter Jade Thompson and her partner Shane Harley on Instagram, Giada expressed how sad she was over Bella’s death.
“Bella unexpectedly passed over the weekend, and our hearts are broken 💔,” she wrote in the caption. “She was the greatest cat ever. She greeted everyone who came through the door, and knew when you needed some love or a pick me up. She was my very first pet as an adult, and was an endless source of peace for me, even on my hardest days. I see her everywhere and will miss her always. Love you Bella. ❤️.”
Many of Giada’s friends and loved ones surrounded her with love and support.
“So sorry G ... it’s so hard,” Michael Symon wrote in the comments. “Sending love ❤️🥹🙏🏻,” Jenna Dewan stated. “I’m so sorry 😢 💔Sending big hugs 🫂,” Valerie Bertinelli responded.

We know how special she was to you, and we’re sending all our love. 🧡,” a different follower added.
In September 2022, Giada spoke with People about how she adored Bella and her two dogs, Bruno and Ollie.
“I've had many people come over and be like, ‘Your dogs are allowed to sleep on the couch?’” she said. “That kind of time for us is bonding time—I just like it ... It's sort of a reminder to me that we live very fast-paced lives, and sometimes the animals just kind of make you chill.”
We’re sending all the love to Giada.
