Fire Country season 5 is slated to premiere in the fall of 2026 on CBS.
Actor Max Thieriot spoke to Good Housekeeping about who he wants to guest-star on Fire Country, and Bates Motel fans would approve.
Is there a world in which Bates Motel comes back to TV? Probably not—but Max Thieriot is all for a cast reunion.
The actor has been executive producing and starring as Bode Leone in Fire Country for the last four seasons, and he enjoys working with former co-stars on the hit CBS drama. (Viewers may know that Alona Tal, who was his love interest on SEAL Team, portrays Bode’s girlfriend, Chloe Mackenzie.)
As it turns out, he has high hopes for the day he can act alongside Bates Motel co-star Freddie Highmore again. But as he shared with Good Housekeeping in May, there is a good reason why the two haven’t had the chance to reunite on TV.
“For Freddie and I, the stars have just not aligned,” he laughed over Zoom about the possibility of working with his former co-star. “He did direct, but generally, with our availability for any long-term commitment, it’s been challenging.”
Freddie is known for playing Norman Bates in Bates Motel. Along with roles in The Good Doctor and plenty of other projects, he also directed the Fire Country season 3 episode “Eyes and Ears Everywhere” in 2025.
Although we have to wait until at least the season 5 premiere this fall to know who will guest star on Fire Country, Max was adamant that fans will get to see him reunite with Freddie at some point.
“Freddie and I will work together again—it’s just a matter of when,” he added. “I think he and I will both see to it that it happens at some point. Stay tuned and see.”
We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for this one.
