The Rookie is celebrating a major milestone in season 9.
The ABC drama is returning in early 2027, and Eric Winter, who plays Tim Bradford, shared on Instagram that the show recently celebrated filming 150 episodes. The cast threw a party to mark the occasion.
“And this is 150!” he wrote in the caption on September 22. “Thank you @alexihawley @nathanfillion @abc for giving us this incredible opportunity. Best cast and crew in the business! @therookieabc #letsgo #therookie #bradford.”
Given how dedicated fans are to The Rookie, they were ecstatic to hear the news.
“This is just so great. Congratulations @therookieabc!!” one person exclaimed. “Can’t believe our little cop show came this far 🥹🙌🔥,” another noted. “Congratulations on this huge milestone!! I remember you reaching 100 episodes. Feels like yesterday. Time flies when you’re having fun.🥹👏🏼👏🏼,” a different follower penned.
While details about the 150th episode of The Rookie are being kept under wraps, the show does have a lot happening in season 9.
Tim and Lucy Chen (Melissa O’Neil) got engaged, but then were kidnapped in the final moments of season 8. In an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2026, creator and showrunner Alexi Hawley teased that the season 9 premiere will be a “two-part” episode, since “there’s a lot going on” for LAPD Mid-Wilshire.
“I think it’s the best of what we do, it’s incredibly high stakes, dramatic,” he said, according to Deadline. “It’s a love story, it’s funny and unexpected. I just wish everything up to wait till January to see it.”
Melissa also celebrated The Rookie’s 150th episode on Instagram.
“Little moments from our 150th Episode Celebration day at The Rookie,” she wrote on September 24. “Impossible to capture every individual and properly convey the incredible resilience and good nature of the people who make this place what it is. It’s been an incredible journey and it is ALWAYS a good time to express gratitude.”
We’re excited to watch!
