I don't know about you, but ever since we've started to see sunshine peek out from behind the clouds, I've grown truly sick of the puffer jackets and wool longline coats piled on my coat rack. If you agree with me, you're in the right place, because I've been searching long and hard for a lightweight replacement that nails the key style trends for spring.
After some internet sleuthing, I came across a rather stylish jacket from none other than M&S, which I immediately knew I had to try. One stock check later (miraculously it hadn't yet sold out), I found myself at my nearest M&S making a beeline from the entrance straight to the jacket section. Safe to say, I wasn't disappointed, and I don't think you will be either.
Constructed from lightweight linen, the M&S jacket is one of those no-muss, no-fuss staples that you can easily swap in for your heavier outerwear. Designed in an easy, relaxed fit, the utility jacket hung flatteringly off my silhouette and didn't feel uncomfortably tight, making it the perfect jacket for day-to-day wear, be that visiting coffee shops or running casual errands.
Courtesy of its moss brown hue (despite looking slightly green in some lighting) it taps into the colour trends of spring, complementing other chic staples such as light-wash and paler denim jeans, as well as cosy knit pieces in Pantone's Colour of the Year, Cloud Dancer.
But, its colour isn't the only aspect of the jacket that embraces popular 2026 shifts. Its cropped utility style, complete with military-inspired lapel pockets, looks like it could have been plucked straight from the SS26 runways, and carries a designer-style charm reminiscent of Loewe. And let's not forget the drawstring waist, which gives the jacket a soft billowing effect akin to Chloé.
Easy to style, it'll slot seamlessly into your wardrobe, pairing effortlessly with capsule favourites. It immediately worked with my classic jeans and pinstripe top combination.
