Though spring doesn't officially start until March 22 this year, I can assure you it's well underway. The proof lies in the fact that pastels are officially in full force, and I've spotted paler, delicate colours in nearly every high street store I rely on for fashion forward pieces, with one hue among them easily cementing itself as my favourite.
The dreamy colour in question? Light blue, otherwise known as baby blue, and I believe I've found the ultimate spring staple from, you guessed it, M&S. The Button Detail Slim Fit Cardigan is the key feminine staple you need this season, and I immediately knew I had to snap it up when I spotted it at my local M&S.
As soon as I tried it on, I immediately started to notice its similarities to the types of knit staples found at Chanel. Think clever blurring between cardigan and jacket styles, and its fitted, clean line design - not to mention its decorative floral buttons, akin to the button style found on plenty of Chanel staples.
But it's not just surface level - the cardigan is incredibly practical, too. Incredibly soft, it's crafted from a lightweight knit fabric, complete with shortened sleeves, making it an ideal transitional key piece as outdoor temperatures start to rise. Its slim fit also makes it especially easy to wear, meaning no uncomfortable bulk when worn underneath coats and jackets when the rain decides to make a reappearance.
Easy to style, it'll work with plenty of the denim staples lining the racks in your wardrobe in a plethora of washes, from black to dark indigo shades. Layer a clever suede jacket on top and accessorise with a knitted neck scarf, and for footwear, think a stylish pair of retro trainers or, in my case, a pair of classic black loafers.
