If you’re petite, shopping for dresses can be a pain, and typically most midi and maxi styles are just too long, with the latter style often ending up frustratingly dragging on the floor.
I'll admit, I'm 5'5, so you might find it hard to believe that I tend to shop in the petite section. But thanks to my legs being far shorter than my torso, when it comes to denim jeans, skirts and dresses, I usually find myself browsing the shorter section in hopes of finding a staple that won't look ridiculously long.
Luckily, my fashion prayers have been answered, and it's all thanks to Nobody's Child. The coveted British brand has partnered with celebrity Louise Thompson to release a 23-piece petite edit, featuring some of the most stylish yet feminine pieces I’ve seen so far for spring/summer. It also includes the ultimate seasonal dress that fits me perfectly, and no - it's not the Starlight.
Enter: the Charlotte midi dress, a floaty number with blue ditsy floral motifs (which are impressively drawn in-house), which I instantly knew I had to snap up before it completely sold out.
Despite - in my opinion - being the perfect leg length, I found that there are plenty of other selling points for this excellent dress. Incredibly flattering, the dress comes with a square neckline (which is ideal for highlighting the collarbone), as well as short sleeves that are long enough to keep you feeling confident but short enough to keep you cool once the mercury decides to rise.
Another pretty feature that immediately drew my attention? The intricate lace detailing sewn onto the bodice, neckline and sleeve hemlines. It also comes with a dainty tie-back detail that can be worn at the front or the back for a nipped-in touch. I initially chose to tie it at the front, but when I realised how flattering it would look from the back, I had to try both.
Of course, this dress will become the hardest-working staple come the summer months, but for now, I paired it with some trusty loafers, cosy socks, and a coat (which, for picture purposes, I decided to ditch - but trust me, I was wearing one).
